Adele is clearly a mezzo-soprano (her lows, despite being decent on their own, are much weaker than her belts). But if she were to sing in a choir/chorus, Adele would definitely sing the Alto part.

High notes, resonance, breath support, stamina, etc. all have little to do with the quality of an artist, especially when not every song is a ballad. I personally like Demi's tone better and altho her belts are sometimes pushed, creating an artificial resonance (C5s & C#5s), I like it better than Adele's thin belts that also happen to lack resonance. I just don't like Demi's forced vibrato, she should work on that. Overall in terms of belting, personally Demi wins for me. Also, do you know which performance is the lovely Eb5 note from 3:18? Adele's Eb5 were more strained. So strained honestly. Demi's B4 were all totally resonant and only the second B4 from Adele has partial freedom. So all Eb5 goes to Demi for me. B4 as well goes to Demi, Adele was straining most of them. No hate, you can call me biased but reality is that Adele has really no points for this, I would give her on E5 only since it sounded good when it was so heady. There's a huge difference to the sound of Adele, they were so constricted and tensed while Demi has so much freedom compared to her.

Demi sings it better than Adele, true, but she singing it 1 key lower has nothing to do with it '-' everyone has different tessituras and confort ranges, and just because someone's confort range is higher doesn't mean that person's better '-' it's like saying Ariana is better than Demi just because she has more ease on upper belts. By saying so, the person would be ignoring Demi's ease on low notes, and it would not be intelligent. Demi's version being vocally better has nothing to do with they key she's singing in.

Well... I don't think so. I love Demi but Adele's voice fits better with the song, most of all 'cause she wrote it :) Demi's vocal range is bigger than Adele's one, but Adele has a more personal voice. Anyway, I love both :)
