Yes, that’s what’s so sad about it. She could have been a respected bronze medalist. Now she’s a hated gold medalist. I don’t know what matters most to her federation, but apparently it’s not her well-being given the fact that she still gets death threats from this event.

@@chamallow989 I feel like RusFed really hoped to push Julia for the gold, especially after the Team Event and how universally loved she became(I remember her FS going viral on facebook, shared by people in no way involved in skating), but once she flopped they needed a backup- and thankfully for them, Adelina delivered _decent_ skates, did not fall and was pushed for gold, which is really unfortunate in the long run, because she actually started skating because of her little sister who has Treacher Collins syndrome, and skating was supposed to be a job to support her family's finances. And she could have been a really respected athlete in the field once people would get aware of her upbringing etc, even if she would retire after Sochi nonetheless(due to her back injury). Adelina does not strike me as some evil person, it's just really unfortunate for her the cookie crumbled this way.

She was rude in the press conference after the performance, she commented regarding overscoring of Kaori Sakamoto (she said something about home ice advantage scoring), she is all support for restricting unhealthy diet in FS, and she wasn't exactly modest when confronted with her gold medal (though fans are wrong in attacking her). If her personality is better, I'd support her more. She is a spoiled teenager back then and hasn't become a role model since, so I say meh

Just a year ago, Sot was 9th place in 2013 world and it is her best world rank. (Yuna won 1st at the same competition and the gap was more than 42 points.) I don’t know well…. but was there any Olympic champion whose world best was 9th…? Before and after Sochi olympic she never won gold in Senior ISU competitions. Her only gold is olympic gold which comes every 4 years…How lucky.

de hecho Korea reclamó y al hacer la verificación técnica se confirmaba el oro a Adelina por su dificultad técnica (Mao era el programa más complejo en damas, Yuzuru se cayó en 2 saltos y mantuvo el oro en esa misma olimpiada debido a su dificultad tecnica); la Plata para Kostner y el Bronce para Yuna que tenia nivel 2 en sus giros, adelina puede no gustar pero sus giros son increibles y hasta ese spin lleva su nombre; Yuna estaba lesionada, estuvo ausente en las competencias y si bien pudo con el programa corto pero para el libre cometió errores, incluso dobló un salto pero como es una magnifica interprete casi ni se nota, puedes revisar el protocolo; en fin que se dio marcha atrás y no hicieron validar la revisión ya que quedaban peor luego Elvis Sotjko que fue quien hizo la revisión publicó en un diario ese informe, por cierto Adelina era la campeona nacional rusa y lo fue en 3 o 4 oportunidades, además de ser medallista europea .

I don’t even care that KZbin doesn’t show dislikes anymore (which is a stupid change IMO) but I’m disliking this farce of a “gold” medal performance on principal. This atrocious over-scoring of an at best bronze and probably more realistically a 4th place finisher is the day that all of Russia and the ISU’s corruption became way too obvious to ignore. I’m still appalled at how this was handled and the flaws in the scoring system have only continued to downgrade this sport.
