Our mindset is an important part of what needs to change. In late 2020, when I just became the Dean of my Faculty and was staying at my brother in law’s place in Kubwa while my house was getting built, I was coming home in my official car when the blare of sirens was insistent behind me. I looked in the mirror and saw Army vehicles behind. I could not see what the problem was as it was a wide four-lane road with anyone in a hurry allowed to overtake the person in their front. I continued on my way. The siren continued so I moved aside a bit wondering what their problem was. Then the convoy passed me and one of the soldiers on the back of the pick up following the General’s car was lashing out at me with the his koboko. I was wondering what his problem was, so I asked him. His reply was I was supposed to get out of his way to allow his General pass. I was alone in the car and had no one to share my frustration with. So, I just shouted back at him that I am a citizen of this country and pay my tax, which is used to pay all of them in those vehicles and their General. Imagine the audacity. These guys have such a sense of entitlement. Their bullish ways is just a sign of inferiority complex. Why do you need to oppress others to feel good about yourself. I don’t have much faith in Legislature as they too use those same tactics as seen in the other HoR guy’s saga with the Bolt driver. It is like some Nigerians just wait to have some power and begin to oppress other Nigerians not in power. When our system gets built up by us all, it will work for everyone! Thank you, @adeolafayehun, for all you do to expose all these ills in our society. God help us all to do our bit and we will have a better country to call home.

My sister, it's like it's been so long since you left Africa. The fact is that, this very incident is very normal to me as a regular road user in Nigeria, and it doesn't matter who's at fault, the result is still the same. If you hit them or they hit you,the end is that you are dead. And I truly understand why. If you go to the origin of African military, you will realize that they were created to help the Europeans and Americans keep they Blacks in order, they can kill any black person in Africa so far they person especially man is not or no longer useful to the Europeans. I have personally gone through that over and over again.
