That is a real Sanchin test. I like it. This is probably the most important kata in all of Karate.

@boazh7 He's explaining that the feet are rooted like a tree is to the ground. He's also explaining the principles of keeping your lower upper and mid body in line for correct practice. After that, he talks about getting hit to withstand the blows. At the end of the video he makes a large emphasis on breathing and how important it is.

The point of the first three minutes ( Im assuming thats what you are asking about) is a breathing exercise whilst being as tense as possible throughout your whole body. It sounds simple but it can take years just to get the breathing right. Its the most important Kata in Goju Ryu karate.

every martial came from the core of the Samurai Spirit some more or less. i picked this Okinawa Goju Ryu because it teaches real combat not just as a sport.

@AZTigerMMA do not be disturbed about kyokushin kai, If you trace history Mas Oyama had created Kyokushin Kai. He used his training experience from his first art Shotokan, than after he went into a bad state when he killed a man. Gogen Yamaguchi taught him Goju Ryu. Mas Oyama went into the mountains for 2 years training. Through his Goju practice he was able to kill live bulls with his bare hands. This is why master Higaonna has strong hands. Shotokan+Goju Ryu=Kyokushin Kai.

Demonstrating sturdiness of stance and ability to absorb damage via breathing technique and accurate control over muscle groups and Chi energy, but im just guessing from past martial arts experiences, I've had teachers who couldn't speak a word of English.

maybe because the samurais teached their bare-handed techniques to the ordinary people when it was needed and later karate was born based in those teachings.

it is a common thing for people who have no trained in one system to not care about those training techniques. a bit of a stupid test i agree but it wasn't the point of the test for the fella to be able to take punches to the face and stay standing. Bruce liked to find holes in other systems, doesn't actually mean that it is a bad practice, if some one asked him to demonstrate his one inch punch and sucker punched him while he was lining up what would that prove?

I don't know if this happened or not but if it did, it just goes to show how undisciplined and disrespectful bruce lee was. He was asked to move the guy. "knocking" the guy out was uncalled for. But I'm sure if it was true, everyone would have heard about it and most likely, the guy would have beat the crap out of bruce when he got up. Who is this "karate master"? What is his name and what was the outcome? If he had done that to a karateka like Higaonna Sensei, Bruce would've been embarrassed.
