swoozie thank you for this, ADHD is one of the most misinterpreted disorders. it is not just “i cannot pay attention” and this video explains the experience of it very well and accurately to my own experiences having it. i always thought that the constant overthinking as well as the literally walking into a room and forgetting what i was there for was just something that happened to everyone. at first i was astonished when i shared this info and people told me “yea what the fuck?” We need more ADHD awareness.

Even at a young age, "walking into a room and forgetting our purpose for being there in the first place" is too real. We all need that awareness, considering this is one of the most accurate representations of ADHD; plus, the overthinking, which has occurred to me for several years almost right after elementary school.

Fun fact, I learned that having ADHD essentially hardwired you for multitasking, so if you try to focus on only one thing, you either get very, very distracted with 3-4 parallel thought processes going on at once with none of them on what you were trying to do, or you hyper-fixate and can't think of anything else. Stick in a small thing/activity to occupy one of those trains of thoughts, like music, a podcast, maybe a sudoku puzzle, and you'll wind up focusing far more naturally on what you need to. At least that's how it works for me.

@jarbincks6715 Жыл бұрын
I know having adhd can be frustrating for us, but we adhders have a superpower that the typical folk don't-and that's the ability to hyperfocus! Hyperfocus is basically a state of intense concentration where you're so tuned in to what you're doing (like watching this youtube video) that you don't notice external distractions. Thus, we can 'harness' this power to our advantage with honework by finding a way to emphasize the interesting parts
