Confidence is a skill that people across the Internet seem to have lots of feelings and beliefs about. As a person with ADHD, if you’re like me, being confident and feeling confident hasn’t come easily. ADHD and confidence issues is something most of my clients share with me, and it’s one area I really can relate to. Heck it took me multiple shoots to get this video right because I wasn’t confident I would get it right!
But, even with its challenges, confidence is one of those “required” skills that we need in order to make friends, try new things, set out on a new adventure or even just be ourselves without masking or hiding.
So how do you develop confidence? Great question that doesn’t have such an easy answer. A lot of it comes down to practice and feeling safe. When you feel safe, you’re able to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. Confidence is the feeling you have BEHIND the actions you want to take.
Want to ask someone out? Feeling confident gives you the courage to put yourself out there.
Want to apply for a new job? Feeling confident is the belief inside of you that you’re not only qualified for the job, but that you should try to get it.
And if you want to make a joke, confidence is the belief inside of you that your joke is going to land and make the room giggle along with you.
Lack of confidence stops us in our tracks. Hiding in your room is a lot easier than taking a risk out in the world. So in this video, I share the ins and outs of ADHD and confidence issues.
