As someone with adhd and not dyslexia on the topic of having a hard time comprehending the text,, id say to test it woth something theyre interested in reading and something theyre not interested in reading, bc if someone has adhd and not dyslexia, but is trying to read something that bores them to death, ill mechanically read stuff multiple times without the words ever sinking in or comprehending, but if its a book i wanna read, then i can do it for hours,,, still sometimes missing words, but not for the lack of ability to decode them, just due to getting distracted or having a harder time focusing at points

I see this, but.. shouldn't reading speed still be considered? I have adhd and struggle with reading a lot, and always got feedback that I'm slow and I do confuse b and d all the time, and I got auditory processing issues and can not find the amount of cyllabelles in a word - and often struggle lots of words - and have to google them despite having taken english at the university. There is only one book I read to finish after high school, a person writing about her adhd, and it had me tearing up several times, it wasn't long and it still took me two days to read it. I don't think that is the normal reading pace. I regularly had to visual track/pace with my finger and caught myself mouthing a lot of the words like a third grader. I don't think it's fair to say that just because I kept at it - doesn't mean I can not by any means be dyslexic, and I think that's the kind of thinking that leads to many adhd'ers not getting adequate help to speed up their reading.
