I facepalmed, then cried, at seeing myself through your stories. I was diagnosed last year, at 62. I’ve been feeling a lot of grief for my struggles, including the ending of my marriage of 28 years. I couldn’t explain and she couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t get tasks done, or fail to help in the planning of family vacations, for example. Now I’m just starting to like the ‘real’ me.

Your Instagram was one of the reasons I decided to ask my doctor about ADHD meds. My husband and son have ADHD and I assumed I didn't have it because my symptoms were so different and I never struggled with school. I started Strattera and I felt totally different by the two week mark. I still can't believe I went 30+ years without realizing I have ADHD and am autistic. Thank you for sharing your journey. It's helped me on mine :)

Diagnosed few months ago and I am 36. I have tried ritalin over the last few months, it worked amazing but then it just didnt work for me, I am off antidepressants now and adderal is not available where i am. I have found at the moment i am happier without the medication but i see myself differently. I was grieiving for younger me too! Thanks for sharing and I feel like you do with the looking at your younger self, but also to find your happiness,. Exercise, coffee and supportive husband helps., i got two kids, i struggle a lot with emotional dysregulation. But my life is the best its been, and I understand why i am the way I am and am less hard on myself

Your story is like looking at myself in a mirror. I am still undiagnosed (I am on the waiting list and in the UK it is up to 2 years). I am 33 and I have only really started noticing symptoms myself after having my son over 2 years ago. Looking back I now see that I have always had some if these issue throughout life, but is only really impacting my life now. Although I am undiagnosed and there is still a change any assessment may come back as that I do not have ADHD, but i can just feel it in my soul that I have and listening to stories like yourselves helps me feel validated and that im not going crazy! Thank you for sharing! Xx

Your video is just amazing, thank you! I saw my life through yours. I found out when I was 22 but I didn't accept it, didnt wanna think that something was wrong with my brain... I took medicine back there but still feeling shame so I stop, didnt tell any one but then as you said older you get worse it gets so I got a appointment for next week. Thank you and hope your life is better now.

I'm so happy I found you. I've complex PTSD, childhood adversity and am now trying to get a route towards ADHD diagnosis. Had an autism consultation & consultant encouraged me to get an ADHD assessment

This is really encouraging. I got referrals from my primary doctor about 2 months ago, but I am struggling to make the appointments. I'm happy to know you made it to the other end of diagnosis and be reminded that I might be able to get there as well.

It wasn't until my psychiatrist asked me about it that I realised that for years I've been using music and podcasts to almost... self-medicate? I am CONSTANTLY listening to something that interests me, it's the only thing that enables me to do chores, to exercise, to get my work done... Free seretonin. 😅

Oh my goodness, this sounds like my 23 years of being married. I was diagnosed in 2008. Had multiple therapists prior to being married but now with the same one since Jan 2013. I have also found healing with my binging by doing carnivore diet. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I have diagnoses of Aspergers traits early 2004, limited impact . I got diagnosed with dyspraxia aged 33, my most severe condition. It was much harder to get an ADHD diagnosis because many psychiatrists would not assess me because I have dyspraxia and / or Aspergers traits. A nervous breakdown to get ADHD detected is very scary. Medication can help, it helped me, exercise helps , mindfulness/meditation/CBT can help with emotional dysregulation. I feel there is too many emphasis on medication for ADHD, the treatment should be multimodal.
