Great job, Ganesh, Bro. This temple must be among some of the oldest temples in TN. A very unique architecture is seen, for example, in the carvings on pillars. These are priceless pieces of art (I would have liked more lingering closeups). I particularly loved the carvings on the pillar at the left hand side of the modern painting gallery at around 7:45! Imagine for a moment the enormous time, effort, skill, and piety with which those nameless artists, our forefathers, created these masterpieces! There are dozens of such artistic pillars and other structural elements even in this relatively lesser known temple - and there are hundreds of such heritage sites in TN for which we all can be proud of. Thank you, Ganesh, for your service to our holy land and her people!

எங்க ஊர், கும்பகோணம் வருக வருக. அந்த அமுத கலசம் இமய மலை நின்றது, பிறகு தண்ணீரில் மிதந்து அங்கிறிந்து இங்கு வந்து நின்றது. வேடனாக உருவம் தறித்து சிவ பெருமான் அந்த அமுத கலசம் உடைத்தார். உடைந்த கலசம் ( குடம்) கோணலான பகுதி கும்பகோணம், குடத்தின் வாசல் குடவாசல் ஆயிற்று. அந்த அமுதம் பட்ட இடம் எங்கும் பல கோவில்கள் உருவாகின. குடம் தங்கிய இடம் மகா மக குளம். இங்கு சப்த கன்னிகள் 12 வருடம் ஒரு முறை நீராடி தங்களின் பாவங்களை போக்கி கொள்கின்றனர்( சப்த மாதக்கள் கங்கை, காவேரி) காசி விஷ்வநாதர் ஆலயத்தில் உள்ளனர்.

Dear Ganesh Raghavaji, thanks for showing Kumbeshwara temple of Kumbakonam. Nice to see different temple that stores was associated with temple only. I felt bad by seeing dogs in temple. Pillars in the entrance was very attractive. Devi statue in the pillar was nice to see, both broken hands was very Sad to look. Thanks for showing Kumbha story in the temple. Great to see many Ganeshas in this temple. Nice to see Gaja Lakshmi in Moorthy form. Navagraha sannidhi was very big here. Nice to see many pigeons in the temple. Gopuram from outside prakara had a spectacular view. Dancing Elephant was nice to see. If possible visit and put other Sri Vaishnava Divyadesam temples such as Saranga pani Perumal temple, Sri Rama temple, Harashapa Vimochana temple, Upilliappan temple which is in Kumbakonam or within 5 to 10 kms from Kumbakonam only. Please try to cover these temple also in future.

I had read somewhere saying that kumbakonam got 40 temple surrounded area near teppa kollam. Water from the kumbam falls into kollam, kalasam became kumbeshwarer, coconut also become a lingam and temple nearby also. The mango leave also become lingam. This info I read in some magazine or book.

Practically kumbakonam is my birth place and I lived there in my young days and college days. Nice Town and intelligence birth place. Often I visited all the Temples in and around kumbakonam by walk only. Even now I used to go to kumbakonam Very often. But now it becomes another crowded concreted and vehicle jungle!!! Mostly people migrated to cities of Tamil Nadu and other States and abroad. The Glory of kumbakonam and cauvery and its tributaries should be restored at any costs. Mostly individual houses were there in my younger days but now only concreted multi storey unhealthy buildings only. Paddy fields where here and there. Temple tanks and the Rivers are not properly maintained and only plastics dumped. Kumbakonam is famous for household articles and temples sculptures if All kinds. Now the handicrafts artisans and ancient traditional occupations are wiping out mostly and disappeared.
