Adi Shankaracharya and Traditions Of Kerala | Subramanian Chidambaram | GFO24

Center for Moksha Studies (previously Advaita Academy) is pleased to be back with 5th Edition of Global Festival of Oneness (GFO2024) celebrating life, teachings, and legacy of Jagadguru Adi Shankara Bhagavadpadacharya through this one month long online celebration.
Starting on May 12 we will be hosting talks by around 50 Sages, Scholars, and Seekers from across the world with two sessions each day till June 11. These sessions will focus on Bhagavadpadacharya’s life, his encyclopediac writings on Vedanta, and mutifaceted nature of his teachings.
The Festival has been conceived as our tribute and show of reverence to one of the foremost teacher, thinker, philosopher, yogi, bhakta, and jivanmukta, who tirelessly worked to reshape the socio-cultural-spiritual landscape of Bharatavarsha.
The morning sessions (7:00am-8.00am IST) will focus upon a thematic treatment of Acharya’s Prasthana-traya Bhashya and his other works aimed at benefiting serious seekers of Vedanta.
The evening sessions (7:00pm-8.00pm IST) will focus upon sensitizing one and all about Vedantic path of spirituality- the path, the goal, and its contemporary relevance.
We are very pleased to share that His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri will bless the event with his Anugraha Sandesham during the Inaugural Program.

There are a lot of myths peddled in this talk 1. "Gods own country"..why does the speaker say "Ideally" Parashuramkshetra exist from Gokarna to Kanyakumari. Does it mean practically it is only kerala? Come out of the Keral saaaar...Nagashila and Naagapooja is duty of every household from Gomantaka to Kanyakumari, Parshuramkshetra starts from todays Ratnagiri 2. 44.01 "Coming of Namboodriis..Vaishnav tradition is brought".. So are Namboodris Vasishnava? Then uses varaharmurthy upasana logic and say Yadavs also used Varahamurthy. as Kula devata ....so are Yadavas Vasihnava? Speaker hasn't heard of Smarthas who used 6 upasana devatas..Vaishnavism is a later product from dvaita sampradaya...shows poor scholarship and understanding. 3. 46.44 "When I use the smaartha...worship Shiva and Vishny equally"..Again PhD has caused permeant head damage..Smartha uses 6 upasana devatas 1) Aditya 2) Shiva (gave rise to shaivas later) 3) Shakti (gave rise to shaktas) 4) Vishnu (to vaishnav) 5) Ganapati (Gaanapatiya) 6) Shamukha...Does not even understand the Historicity of Smartha upasana even after Shankara restored it. Author says Smartha is mix of shaiva and vaishnav parampara...are you sure you got approval of Shringeri Shankaracharya on this? 4. 47.24 "All Namboodris will be wearing tripunda..s" because they are smarthas and not Vasihnavs as said in 46.44 (Varahamurty temples) and as smarthas they can worship any of 6 upasana devatas...self-contradicting (phd) 5. 50:13 "If you look at Acharya..he is a Shaiva in his attire"...first the image of Acharya is of Sanyasi (beyond nitya-naimittika karma)...prior to Sanyasa he would follow Smaartha sampradaya and all smarthas wore tripundas (even today, there are smarthas who do this and they are not only in kerala) and the permanent head damaged has given a lecture for Indica (peddlers of ajnana) Shankara- the Vasihnava...using BhagvataGita into prastrantrayee makes Acharya a Vaishnava? Krishna...Krishna what would the virus called ISKCON say (Indica is a davitavada school hidden under advaita)! They call Acharya names...I mean does the speaker really understand what he is talking about? 6. Aryaamba, acharyas mother used to like Krishna (makes it sound as if her ishta is krishna) so why would Shivguru and Aryamba name him Shankara? According to Kamakoi.org they prayed at Trichur to Lord Vadakkunthan comes from assumption smartha came later...vedic dharma itself was smartha.... 7. Then peddles the myth that Smartha tradition of unity in diversity..there is nothing much farther from truth...Kerala neglected and ridiculed Shankara for performing last rites of his mother as a Sannyasi...Now the speaker wants to usurp Shankara as "keralite" and peddle lies such as kerala as origin of smaartha...like the padres of Keralas wearing orange to fool people....Kerala tradition is expert in losing its roots and adulterating truth..hence Shankara had to be born there (Yada Yada hi dharmasya glaanir bhavati)...and as he played the role of the sishya and take a arduous and dangerous journey through forests of western India to find his Guru Shri GovindaBhagvatapada at banks of Narmada. If Kerala was such a center of Knowledge, then why take the journey. And Shankara didn't return back to kerala to set up a Gurukula or center of moksha in kerala...He travelled around Bharatvarsha 3 times restoring the vedic dharma which included smartha sampradaya. If you want to give a talk on rich traditions of Kerala do so...that is already rich and good. Why spread myths using name of Acharya...
