ADI Theory Test Part 1. Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception and overall test experience

I'm currently training to become an ADI and in this video I talk you through my theory test, the score, how each category scored separately and my experience of the hazard perception test.

My test in on 23/09/2023 which is in two days .1 Learning by rote is an appropriate teaching method for: a.) Memorizing facts and figures b.) Problem solving c.) Teaching hazard perception d.) Teaching coordination Answer is A The 'gestalt' method of teaching is based on: a.) Understanding the subject matter b. Repeatedly practicing a skill c.) Reflex actions d.) Muscle memory Answer is A What is one of the benefits of disc brakes over drum brakes? a.) They are cheaper to produce b. They are less prone to brake fade c.) The are more prone to brake fade d.) They are better for the environment Answer is B When would it be acceptable to use one foot on each pedal in an automatic transmission vehicle? a.) When carrying out low speed manoeuvres b.) Never c.) When braking in an emergency F d.) When braking from high speed Answer is A

Great video, Mate; I wish i'd found your video sooner.. I vividly recall being asked these specific questions. Driving defensively is crucial (why). Examiner marked down for a fault due to Coasting in neutral; what would the examiner marked down for ? Braking, Clutch, Gears etc.. What should the candidate do when the examiner gives the signal for an emergency stop? No mirrors 'Dutch Reach' technique for getting out of a car? How effective is Rote Learning for students? Gestalt Learning What is the waiting period before an ADI can reapply for a license after being disqualified? 4yrs how to address a complaint regarding your teaching from a student's mother? In a car without ABS, what causes brake fade? Your vehicle appears equipped with anti-lock brakes and an automatic transmission? You can use both of your feet to bring the car to a stop!!. what is perception ; doesnt mentioned [Look & Feel] What is the learning plateau? i wonder anyone else had these Q?

Hi Kris, there is acually about 20 questions in the (Proper) test at the centre that are not available in any of the Apps or Publications 😒

Frustrating. I mean you can get 15 wrong overall so there is scope for ones we don't know or forget on the day. Personal experience was of four answers there was always two absolutely not that as an answer then two it could be so it was what seems reasonable, safe or logical

I failed by 2 marks ,you explained really well ,100 % of the same experience I had, which u had.😢 multiple questions and hazard perception. 0 in one clip, although I'm very careful while clicking mouse .

About six weeks and a practice test every day. I read all the questions and then did the mock test and then did a questions not seen yet test alternated with a question you have got wrong before test til I knew them with confidence

Took my API theory test today and failed by 1 point on the hazard perception test, feel gutted. I think we must have had a similar question bank as I had both those questions you had, one the duel brakes and the one on in the event of an accident who is responsible the driver or the pupil or both. Well done on passing your part 2 as well, have you taken part 3 yet and if so how did you get on?

I watched your video twice Chris and listed all of the advice re:test itself as I'm in a different region. I've just passed mine today, yay! I had about 5 Qs I've not come across anywhere at all, including their own bank. However, its not about passing the exam but acquiring the knowledge. So I had to put in a lot of work for the past 2months, day in/out and sleepless nights the past week only!

I’ve started to revise , apart from the three books you’ve mentioned and KZbin videos would you recommend anything else , I see on gov website they have practise tests you can download with fee . Also how long did you revise for altogether weeks months etc. Lastly are you training with company or just independent instructor for your part 2

Hi. I did mine as and when, had some down time in work, an hour or so spare each day then do a practise exam and then do the questions again that I got wrong to ensure I was up to speed. I had free access to DTS Anytime but having used different apps in my view they do much the same. You will possibly get some questions that didn't appear on practice apps, I had one which was what is the benefit of dual braking? That question never surfaced in any revision questions and when these questions turned up it was look at what seems the most likely option as out of the four answers there's usually two that you look at and think there's no way it's that. I'm doing my training with a large franchise and probably that will be the path I go down after my p3

I used DTS Anytime but it's not perfect, there were several questions the app does not cover. I'd definitely look at reading Driving: The Essential Skills book either physical copy or get a free months trial of Scribd and read it on there. Good luck with the test

Iv just googled the answer to one of them. In an accident the pupil takes responsibility for it. Learners have the same duty of care as qualified drivers.
