Lot of changes now in the lineup, different stack heights and shoes, still love the older ones. Nice video 👍

Good, informative video. Wish I watched it before ordering Boston 9s yesterday. I'm new to running, apart from an accidental (I was given a pair of unwanted Lidl brand running shoes - which were pretty decent I thought) ~3 months stint last year when I ran distances for the first time since my PE classes 25+ yrs ago. In those 3 months I managed to get to running 5k in approx. 30mins- which doesn't seem amazing to any runner but I thought of as miracle, considering: 42y/o, 240lbs, 25yrs of smoking and 4 times dislocated and torn basketball left knee. Now to the point: all that running was in a forest. At the beginning I'd park some 0.7km from the trail and use that road distance for warmup walk/jog. However I soon noticed that this stretch of asphalt, especially at the end of the run when coming back to the car, was giving me awful pains in shins and my wreck of a knee. It got better instantly once I moved onto grassy strip by the road... My body has been demanding for months that I start running again but now, back in London, I'm pretty afraid of paved roads. I bought Bostons thinking "Boston marathon is on the streets so they'll be well cushioned for that", but now, after watching your video,I think I should've gone for Adios Pro. But then again - would a complete running noob like me need a pro racing shoe? I wonder if there are any less fancy but as well cushioned alternatives perhaps?

Hi Norbert, really glad you found the video informative! Well done on getting to running 5k in approximately 30 minutes, that's great. The Boston's are the more cushioned adizero option for everyday running/more mileage but from what you've written I would probably recommend a shoe more like the Solar Boost 3 or potentially Ultra Boost 21 which offer more cushioning to help protect your body from the impact. I would steer clear of the Adios Pro for now as they are designed for breaking personal bests and helping elite athletes break world records but they might be worth thinking about further into your running journey. Perhaps when running stores open back up again it would be worth trying a few on, it's really important to get a shoe that is comfortable and provides the right cushioning/stability for you when you're starting out. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any further questions etc, more than happy to try and help!

@@TheSteveSkinner Thanks for the advice. I did have a look at Solar Boost3 online, but of course without trying them on it's hard to choose what's best, especially as I have never bought a running shoe before... Yes, I hope the stores open soon! You did lift my spirits a bit though, writing that Bostons were the more cushioned of the line-up. I shall wait coupla days and "see" with my own feet. Cheers! PS. I also wondered if adidas gore-tex trail running shoe (can't remember the name now) would be serviceable on the pavement too..?

@@norbertekkertmal2273 No worries. Yes it is really difficult to know which running shoes would be good/right online isn't it. Fingers crossed you like the Boston's! The Agravic & Agravic Flow would be options that you could use a little bit on road but the downside would be the lugs (grip) would wear down quite quickly if you use them on the road all the time. Goretex is good if it is really wet/muddy but not as breathable/sweat-wicking on hot/dry days. I've never really opted for GTX shoes because if water gets in I figure they dry out quicker if they have a breathable mesh upper. Hope that helps!

Hi Steve, that was a great vid. Do you think i could benefit from the adizero pro for competition? I mainly run 3k-5k(18:30)-10k(41:10) and weigth 61kg. I usually use lighter racing flats in competitions such as the nike zoom streak and the saucony fastwitch. Is the adizero pro an improvement for me? (there is a 100$ sale in my country currently) . Also i do triathlons, is it easy to put on? Is the fit way too snug?

Hi Franco, really glad you liked the video. Yes I think you could benefit from wearing the Adizero Pro. I really enjoy them for speed sessions when I'm hitting around 5k/10k pace because they are responsive and propulsive because of the full length Carbitex carbon plate. I think because I used to run in the Adios & Boston all the time I like relatively lightweight/minimal shoes that are close to the ground. Also worth mentioning that because of the Boost cushioning they are a versatile shoe so lots of runners will be able to use them for longer runs too and they feel comfortable for a few easy kilometres before and after reps. For triathlons the only issue I would see would be the gusseted tongue. Because it is designed to hold your foot in securely it's not the easiest shoe to put on quickly. Having said that, because of the extra lace eyelets on them you may be able to find a lace configuration that works which could potentially make it ok for triathlons. Hope this has helped and good luck with the training and racing!

@@TheSteveSkinner Thanks for the answer Steve, i didnt think about the lacing configuration to make it easier for triathlons! Im going to the adidas store this weekend, other from the adizero pro and maybe the adios 5, which shoe for mostly competition should i try?

@@cuylorna No problem. Let me know how you get on in store. Apart from the Adizero Pro & Adios 5 I would recommend trying on the Takumi Sen if they have it in store. If it's mainly 5ks and 10ks you race these could be a good option as they are so light and responsive. Hope you find something suitable for your needs, like I say let me know how you get on.

Great review and love the comparison. I had adizero pro did 500 miles have replaced with SL2.2 which was a nightmare didn’t enjoy long/short runs required too much effort. What do you think of Boston 8? I need something similar to adizero pro something flat bouncy, has spring and that can help you do faster pacing

Hi Steve, That's a really hand vid thanks. Any idea when the Adios 6 will be available for purchase? Got a marathon at the end of May and wondering whether to get the Adios 5 now or hold out for the Adios 6

Hi James, really glad you found the video handy. Unfortunately I'm not aware of when the Adios 6 will be available but I imagine it is more likely to be towards the end of the year rather than in the next month or two. Hope your training has been going well for the marathon. Which one are you doing?

Hi. How would you say the Adios 5 size up to the Adizero Pro? I have raced in adios 3 & 4 at 5k, 10k and now deciding whether to carry on to the 5 or move to the Pro. Thanks
@TheSteveSkinner
@TheSteveSkinner 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, They're both great shoes and I'd be happy to race 5 or 10ks in either the Adios 5 or Adizero Pro. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I tend to be opting for the Adizero Pro for sessions at 5/10k pace recently. Slightly prefer the configuration of boost & lightstrike and the full length carbitex plate in them and really like the lockdown with the gusseted tongue and celermesh upper. If you're able to get to a store to try both on and compare them it might be worth doing. As you've been in the Adios 3 & 4 I'm sure you'd get on well with the 5 too but might just be worth trying the Adizero Pro as well. Let me know how you get on!

Thanks for the reply Steve. Most of the Adizero range has some decent discounts on startfitness so will order a pair of the Pro tonight and see how I get on. Usually a 11.5 in the Adios so will go with that and see how they fit. Thanks again 👍🏻

Sounds good! I wear the same size in the Adizero Pro as the Adios so hopefully they should fit ok. Good luck with the running!
