ADJ Focus Spot 5Z - In Depth Demo

ADJ Region Sales Manager, Mike Turner, gives us an "in depth" demo of the feature-rich Focus Spot 5Z from his garage in Texas. Features include: motorized zoom (11 to 22-degrees), 5-facet linear prism, 6-facet circular prism, 14 colors on two different color wheels (including: CTO, CTB and UV filters) and light frost and heavy frost filters. The Focus Spot 5Z is powered by a 200W cool white LED engine with a max power draw of 290W.

Mine will be here tomorrow. I know you said it’s more for schools and what not but I’ll be using it for weddings. Only down side is the 5 pin Dmx. I feel like it should have had 3 pin as well.

Hi. Could I just ask, the photometrics of the 4z/5z show the 5z being MUCH brighter than the 4z. Yet as far as I'm aware they share the same LED source and have the same optics. Are these photometric reports in error or is the 5z really much brighter?

Cool video concept, I've been personally looking around to pick up a set of spots and the 4z/5z are on the contender list, but next time can you set a constant exposure and white balance on cam. otherwise it kinda negates the purpose of the video by having a shifting brightness level.

I completely understand. That was filmed with an iPhone 11 on a gimbal in a garage with the door open. I get people asking me all the time to do videos where the fixture is not in a jet black room with tons of haze. They ask this because even a 10w LED will look bright under those conditions. So for me, I felt a large portion of the those who are seriously considering this fixture will be using them in a room with lots of ambient light such as a church. But Im glad you got something out of it. The 4Z is a great option too, you just dont get a frost filter or second color wheel but the output is the same. Thanks again for your support. Ill research other methods to use my iPhone that may lock in the white balance.

QUESTION: I am ready to buy either the 4Z or the 5Z ????? = Is the 5Z worth the extra money? and is the DMX programing gonna be the same on either light? thanks = good video.

Howdy adjlighting i have Tomshine 80w moving head and dmx512 controller i bet these lights will go very well for the setup anyway stay safe

You made a point of the soft frost primarily being useful with gobos but didn't show it with gobos. Do you have any footage of this?

I didn't film anything myself that day but I believe we have multiple videos of this fixture on ADJ's KZbin channel that do show that feature. And I apologize as you are correct. I like to think of myself as a "one-take" wonder when I do these little videos and I tend to ramble. In this case, I hadn't made a cue that show the light frost with a gobo in advance so I didn't want to look silly fumbling with faders on a video so it got left out. Thanks for the support Kris

@@riverrat7797 No problem, enjoyed the vid mate. Still deciding what to get, Focus Spot 3Zs are pretty good value at the minute and ADJ don't do the 5 in white which is crazy considering it's got the same (I think) casing as the 4Z which you can get in white.
