Such fun! I remember reading many of Milne”s poems when I was a child in Canada. The British cultural references (why is it so important to return for tea? - I didn’t know it was a little meal.) eluded me, but some of the poems were embedded in family dialogues from time to time. My father insisted on saying “I do like a little bit of butter on my bread” at breakfast. He did this as long as he lived. JJ MM WG duP is great fun to recite.

Brilliant, my mother used to read this to me regularly (and still occasionally does). A great rendition.

Why is the last verse whispered? And why does the last verse have asterixes and abbreviations?

"Classic" or not, its nonsence, unpleasant nonsense.

What, for the love of God, is unpleasant about an AA Milne kid’s poem?

Sven Tviking (sounds like a fake name but okay) Look, you do you and I'll do me, and I didn't like it. Buzz off.
