Awesome update to an old method of adjustable necks. Looking forward to the next video. God bless!

Looks really promising! I appreciate the use of easy to find hardware. I can't wait to see your next videos on this design.

Great stuff Tim! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I'd still like to get coffee sometime. 😉

Give me a shout when you’re in the area and we’ll do that!

Wouldn't it be easier to reset the soundboard since that's what caused the bridge rising above its original position? I can reset the soundboard after removing the warped bridge and fixing the warp in the bridge as well. The reinforcement under the sound of board needs to be fixed too but you can cut them and then reglue.

That's a lot of ungluing, shaping, re-glueing, etc. That kind of work needs to be done under experienced hands. (i.e. expensive) The idea with the adjustability is to leave all of that alone in favor of a do it yourself method. Plus, it gives the player adjustability to whatever attack/intensity/style of playing they have.

@@pilsonguitars If you have a fan braces guitar it's easy. The bridge is usually warped so that can be fixed by cutting it in two down the center without removing it. Then you just wet the soundboard and heat it clamp it flat and you're done.

If a neck is made properly, it doesn’t need to be adjusted. Micro adjustments can be made with nut slots, truss rods and saddles.

It's not imperfections in the neck that we're correcting for. You're right, a properly built neck should last a lifetime. It's the body that's going to flex a bit. Now, hopefully that isn't much, but after 30+ yrs, you're likely going to need a reset because you'll be beyond the limits of adjustments at the bridge/saddle.

G'day Tim, greetings from Mansfield in Victoria, Australia. I'm a luthier and I'm really interested in this project to see how it evolves. The idea of an adjustable neck intrigues me, especially to give players a choice and not to adjust over time. I'll be interested in seeing if this can be achieved ultimately without CNC. I guess it would be hard to get the level of precision required without CNC. Excellent video!

Hey Mansfield to Mansfield… across the world, I love it! I’m excited about the challenge and what I’ll learn along the way. This will be heavy on the CNC side, but I don’t see anything that would be impossible without. The pockets will need to be hand routed, but that’s feasible and certainly easier if you create a template first. Thanks for watching. More to come!

I had no idea you were also in another "Mansfield". Uncanny coincidence right? Your pocket design reminds me of the Trevor Gore Bolt on / both off design from his book, but I don't think his book includes how his adjustable tilt necks are implemented. I'll be watching keenly.

yeah but Furch and Parker beet you about quoter century a go

As I mentioned, adjustable necks date back to the 1800’s. Long before Furch or Parker as well. My intention is to combine some techniques and show the build process. Thanks for watching.
