You’re supposed to do that on a cold engine, and when I did one just recently, I had the front end jacked way up high. I have alawn tractor / ATV lift, that you can raise one end of the tractor or ATV with….pretty slick. I don’t think any oil came out at all, but if any did, it was only a drop or two. At the very least, put a little drip pan under the valve cover. Anyway, besides letting the engine oil drain back into the engine from the valve cover, it also makes the front of the engine at a more convenient work height. I would also suggest taking the hood off. It takes like 20 or 40 seconds to pull the hood, and then it makes it easier to access everything at the front of the engine. It would also show better for your video.
