Even if it's a protest against societal norms, (Which isn't a bad thing, and I don't mean it in a bad way.) the fact that this is continued to be held so highly. My words can't even begin to describe it, nor describe what levels of depth this song has meant to me and most likely millions of others. I can’t believe this is my first time listening to this song like where have I been this whole time I’m obsessed with it now 😭😭😭😭
Now that it's reached 200M views, I'm going to celebrate by giving a theory, because we all ADORE WOOMA and their tragic characters, with events that make you go "AHHHH!!!!! WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?! THEY COULD HAVE DONE IT ANOTHER WAY BUT NO..." and just their overall art style in general! Without further *ado* here I go: First off. The girl in the video is a young adult who already has graduated from high school. You can tell this because she still has her teenage-ness to her - she wears a schoolgirl-reminiscent outfit, has a lollipop in her mouth that signifies her childishness, mentions being a genius honor student who grew up, and has this song which is about her frustrations now that she has become an adult, which is further backed up by having Ado, who at the time sung this when she was 17, a young age. Another thing that I thought is important to mention is that the lyricist of this song, syudou, has worked in a previous company before that he was just generally unsatisfied with, but has now took to a different career that he can actually have an enjoyment out of. His songs have a distinct darkness to them that can just be uncomfortable to people, which I've seen some people criticize syudou for. You can tell that he carries this style in the lyrics of USEEWA, as the girl talks about her experiences with being dissatisfied with society and all the standards being placed on her. Going off of Wikipedia's entry for "Usseewa", Ado speaks "on behalf of members of society about their dissatisfaction and anger with society". Another text reads "Ado has expressed that the lyrics of the song are meant to help relieve the stress of her audience by resonating with their frustrations. She further states that she "sing[s] people's anger in their place, because [she] want[s] them to live positively."". So there's the context behind Usseewa coming from Ado that I was too lazy to sum up and just copypasted from Wikipedia. Next, there is some vague backstory of the girl that you can get from listening to the song, even if we actually do not have flashbacks into her life as a child. I believe she comes from a wealthy background and has rich parents, given that she is considered a "genius" and "honor student", as well as the fact that she's implied to have gotten a job recently, and that the people in the MV have similar color palettes to them (it could be people working at the job, but ambiguity is there for a reason and I'm sticking with what I think.). People who are considered "genius" have very high standards placed upon them by society (including family), which is just one part of her identity and why she is frustrated with society overall. The girl has been hired to work in a corporate company, one that requires her to conform to the minimum rules of social manner and serve her superiors without question. At this job, she wears goggles that obscure her face. This symbolises the mask that she wears - she has been raised to conform with what's considered "normal", and you can see the people surrounding her that they wear the same goggles too. USSEEWA follows the story of her voicing her frustrations. She criticizes everyone for being the same and always conforming. I think that because of her wealthy background and her critiques of society, as well as the fact that she claims to be speaking for everyone with the same feelings as her, that she is probably a known figure to others. So much so, that through voicing her own opinions, she is being closely monitored by others and her every move watched (0:38). The people standing beside her in that one scene could either be her family members, coworkers, or even a personification of the people who always conform to society's expectations, perhaps even a combination. They are significant because later, the girl is shown to shoot them with a gun, and then there is another scene where you can see their dead bodies on the floor. This is where my personal theory comes in. Because of her being so pronounced in her beliefs, someone has actually hired someone to kill her and stop her from breaking society and all of its expectations, practices and ethics. I think those people that were standing beside her were the ones who wanted to kill her. However, it's shown that there may be one person that escaped being shot by her. I think the person who was watching her through the goggles at 0:38 is the one who ends up at the very last scene trying to shoot her, where the girl is shown in a shocked expression, showing that she didn't actually know someone was there. Because of the obvious distance between them, they were a shooter too. That ends up being contrasting to the girl, because she's also seen with a gun so maybe that's just a natural resource of their company? With all this combined, it leads me to think that there was actually not one person, but a group of people who were hired to try take her down for standing against society. Whether or not she ends up actually dying is a mystery. WOOMA left it on a cliffhanger, which leaves much to the imagination on what could happen next. I have no exact idea what it'd be since there's no continuation, so I'll leave it up to anyone who ends up reading this... So anyway in conclusion PRAISE ADO, SYUDOU, WOOMA NAOKI ITAI AND ORIHARA AND ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCTION FOR MAKING THIS GREAT PIECE OF WORK THAT MADE ME USE MY BRAIN FOR ONCE 🙏🙏🙏

I'm hearing this song in 2021 and I'm drawn to her voice, there's something magical about her voice that cheers me up, maybe the occasional growl? Possibly a powerful voice? I don't know, I just like her voice
@Thtaoy10292 жыл бұрын
Her voice is versatile. She can sing aggressive, she can sing calm, her voice can stretch, her voice can growl. She can do so much stuff with her voice. A perfect example is this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJTKoJxsZqdoepo I only listened to a few of her music, but I'm trying to listen to her more

Some people are angered by the fact that this song is true. I truly admire people like Ado because she rebels against Japan's harsh norms and shows us that it isn't as great as it is on TV and shown on social media.

2 years already since i listened to your voice, as well as the song, and it will be 3 years this year. Thank you Ado for popularizing this song to the place not only in Japan, but also whole part of the world. She was 17 when she produced this song and and was released 23 October, a day before her 18th birthday! It is also a song that propellered her as an mainstream J-Pop singer that she will continue to do so for the much of the 2020s! What an amazing voice she has man!!!!! Also how time flies fast!!!!! She is now 20 and is already trying to break her carrer by expanding her musical carrer in USA, but i don't see any news annoucement on what kind of new song she will be released in US? Also, look forward to your come back!

Im glad that I found out about her 2 years ago when she did a cover of Jigahidai and look where she is right now, she has ascended to a whole new level and Im very happy for her achievements. I wish her all the best both in life and her future projects❤️ Edit: She is 18 now btw Edit#2: She debuted from Universal Music Japan on October 15, 2020

As a Chinese, The first time I touched Ado's channel which is from this song, I can't refuse this is a masterpiece. I will give a hundred if someone asks me to give a score. Hundred is the limit of the score instead of the limit Ado's singing skills. I will be always supporting Ado, the thing I want to tell Ado is gumbade(the Japanese version of come on /add oil). I hope you can read my comment and understand what I am talking about. Finally, sorry if I have grammatical mistakes, as I am not very good at English

This is a great song on rebellion against the monotonous, overburdening work culture of Japan that kills the emotions inside oneself. A lot of sarcasm has been used here but what I feel is that this sarcasm is to show what she really feels like. Her worth is not appreciated. She's just like another one of those workers who have worked hard throughout their life just to stand in a position of nothing but complex hate and mediocrity. She's standing inside a caged room which I bet represents the captivity of the workers inside their own little "office" which everyday, cruelly burdens them to the verge of suicide. I also gotta point that even though Japan is such a developed country, but it has one of the highest suicide ratio. No one really breaks through this system as according to those workers, "it's everyday life". The song as I said earlier, explains the monotonous life of the workers, the line, "checking the stock market everyday" and some other lines like that just represent how one's creativity is not given much space to express. This is a very detailed song on rebellion. Even I can't completely incur the meanings of some parts but I just think it's made like that to show what is really revolving inside the rebel's mind. Great song Ado! ❤️

I agree, and I also think there's criticism of "acting properly" and being a model citizen in Japanese society that's in the song too.

I think the song resonates well with a lot of people, esp. the millennials and Gen Z. The world consistently goes through revolutions, and while the words are aggressive, the concept of taking the bull by the horns and telling it as it is rings loud and clear.
