Question. Why didn't you use an opacity mask for applying the halftone textures?

You can absolutely use the opacity mask to cut out the halftone shapes. Transparency Menu- Select Green/yellow shapes- Make Mask- (clip & invert mask) We are going through as many different options through the tutorials so new users can get exposed to different workflows and procedures- transparency and masks are coming. I get more requests for pathfinder so I try to include them more in the tutorials.

I have been getting a lot of requests for portraits, carton faces, and using photos. So in the portrait series I will go through hair and other features. What style are you thinking of?

very good, but with this method if you want to change the line you have to repaint everything back

Just so I am clear- I are you looking to modify the line after you apply the brushes?

I think I am getting what you are saying (correct me if I missed something) If you modify the line or move the expanded black lines you will get the negative areas from the Live Paint. If this happens use the blob brush to fill in the gaps or just se direct selection tool to move the anchors to hide the edges under your black line. You can easily retouch the edges rather than recoloring the whole thing.

yes, but I use the live paint tool without any lines so that I do not have the white cutout in the filling.
