In this video, I explore the new Adobe Lightroom feature Point Color in more detail, specifically the use of this new feature within the Masks, I also look at more complex masking techniques to demostarte how you can fine-tune your masks to work in challenging and more difficult situations. The scene was shot in Germany in 2017 at the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, part of the German Government Buildings complex behind the Reichstag in central Berlin. It was shot with my Olympus OMD EM1 mk2 at the time, which was a 20MP micro 4/3 camera, which I enjoyed owning very much at the time, a great camera. It was a 6-second exposure F5.0 at ISO 64, using an Olympus 12-40mm F2.8 lens at 12mm. The idea is to demostarte that you can revisit your older images and try the new features and techniques to improve them today... :-)

Hi Jamie, this is my first visit to your site, not my last, certainly. In the beginning I thought you might be a bit too picky, maybe exaggerating. But the longer I watched the more I liked it, actually admired your drive towards perfection. - Thank you - I'll be back in order to learn more...

Hi Norbert and thank you for your comment, my wife might agree that I am too picky 😀 I wish sometimes I could achieve perfection, but never have enough time....

Jamie I just love your videos and have watched everyone. May i make a suggestion. You use radial gradients a lot and in one video said it was your favourite tool. I would really like to see a video on just radial gradients and how powerful they are I know this is not something you usually do but I am really interested in learning about this tool and it doesn’t seem to be something you find anywhere on youtube. Just a suggestion and thanks for all the great videos I really enjoy them and have learned a lot

@@DMW5533 I think you are right, the full power of Radials is not really understood or used by many people, the capabilities and options are almost limitless, I think people tend to believe that Dodge and Burning is generally a brush activity, but to be honest, I think it is better done with Radials, as you see in most of my videos. 😀

Those have a special atmosphere that please me. I am trying to work on some of mine and your youtube channel is a source of inspiration. Please continue 😍

Hi Jamie, absolutely loving your videos. Have to say you are an incredible teacher, very clear precise instructions on what to do and you repeat it all again in every video. I find that really helps me get my head around it all. I’ve been practicing and whilst still have a long way to go I’m quite proud of what I’ve managed to do. Anyway I do have a question, why don’t you ever use the “show overlay” when removing overflow light? Wouldn’t it make it easier to see what you have to do rather than guess and hover over the mask? Thanks again, looking forward to the next video.
@jamiermathlin

show overlay is a great way to see your progress, however, I like to see the result as I progress as sometimes you can get abstract results, which can add interest 😀

Hi Jamie Great video as always. You have inspired me to re evaluate my older images utilising all the new features in LR . When out with my cameras I now look for street scenes which include lanterns and lamp posts to edit day to night images. Your teaching of this effect is very detailed and so easy to follow. I recall that you once mentioned you were going to make available downloads of lanterns and lamp posts for purchase. Is this still something for the future. Look forward to all your videos.

yes, still working on the lantern set, have around 30, currently, hopefully I will have my website up and running soon !

The before and after are amazing. Do you know if there is a trick that will allow you to mask out the Point Color tool in some regions of the image?
@jamiermathlin
@jamiermathlin 9 ай бұрын
Thank you Walter 😀 You can mask out the point colour if you use an overall mask and then set it to invert...

Hi Jamie , sorry if I'm missing something basic ,but how do you get the magnifier on the point color eyedropper ?
@jamiermathlin
@jamiermathlin 9 ай бұрын
The eye dropper automatically shows for the Point Color eyedropper, so check you are not using the eyedropper from one of the different sections like hue, as these do not have the magnifier, fingers crossed that is the problem...

@@jamiermathlin hi Jamie , thanks for quick response. Tried in Lightroom - all good . Tried in ACR and it’s not showing, I thought Lightroom and ACR are the same ,but maybe not !

@@antonymelling8831 this is why I do not use ACR, I find it to be less flexible and capable, hence why you see me jumping back and forth between LR and PS 😀
