Certi assunti della scrittura pianistica, disposti in modalità pseudo- barocca depistano in modo suggestivo l' ascoltatore, creando l' idea, la sensazione di una Suite in stile, ma questa è musica schiettamente romantica, che gioca amabilmente con gli stilemi antichi, per cercare nuove vie, tra cui una certa purificazione dalle sonorità massive o morbidamente pedalizzate del romanticismo... Verso una prima coscienza della modernità, dissimulata sotto il gioco del patchwork stilistico, o del ricalco puro. Molta angoscia latente pervade queste danze, che non virano a tonalità maggiori nemmeno nella corrente, ad esempio. Bella proposta e piacevolissima esecuzione. Grazie molte!

Harold Truscott wrote of the Deutsche Suite as follows: “It is superbly conceived and carried out, utilising all the suggestion of the seventeenth-century suite combined with nineteenth-century harmony and piano keyboard mastery. It is no harpsichord work but one fully conceived for the piano ... Jensen’s stroke of genius in uniting style and content”. ('The Music of Franz Schmidt', Toccata Press, 1984, comparing the related Baroque influences on Schmidt's First Symphony.)
