Adopting a Cat in Japan

I had been meaning to make a video about this!
The 'Adopt Don't Shop' movement isn't really big in Japan. You can probably tell by the amount of pet shops there are here. It's a shame because there are plenty of NPOs with cats and dogs looking for homes.
I mention Japan Cat Network: japancatnetwor... and Tokyo Cat Guardian: tokyocatguardi... in the video.
I've heard Ark Bark (www.arkbark.net...) is quite a well known NPO which rescues and finds homes for cats and dogs.
As usual, forgive my awkwardness! I end up editing it so it seem like I talk very fast, sorry!

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! If you are bringing your cats to Japan with you, depending on how you transport them, it could get very pricey! Personally, I had to use JetPets to transport Francis from Australia to Japan - it was about $2,000AUD for one cat with all the paperwork and help. As for living with cats in Japan, with two cats it really limits the amount of apartments you can rent. You may end up spending around 75,000~100,000yen per month for rent. The cost of taking care of the cats is probably more or less the same as other countries.

Sorry I missed your comment.. It is a bit more difficult for foreigners to adopt from Japanese organisations. But Japan Cat Network is very open to foreigners wanting to foster and adopt! As long as they think you'll make a suitable owner, it's ok. 😄
