Because it is more of a pitch vibrato/phaser-based vibrato, than a true univibe. A true vibe has the optical spinny thing in it, which are quite expensive. Many cheap 'vibes' are just phasers that have been shaped to sound like a 'vibrato'/'chorus' What this pedal DOES have that I am super interested in, is the 'rotary' setting which is a harmonic tremolo. The cheapest harmonic tremolo before this pedal came out was the $99 JHS 3-series harmonic trem.

I got 8 recently and that one was among them but my favorite was definitely the red sandwich muff pedal, the vibe was just ok, most disappointing was the tremolo it showed up not working and on that day it arrived I sent an email to effects bakery saying to them that the tremolo was doa and they sent back a response about how happy they were to get back customer response and just ignored that I told them the pedal didn’t work and nothing since. Basically a big F-you to the customer so while I didn’t get a bad pedal from them of the 7 that worked. I doubt I’ll buy anything from them again. A friends kid likes fiddling w/ things and liked the pedal enclosure so I just gave it to him but basically that tremolo was a colorful $50 paperweight.

The pedal has 3 settings on it; the 'rotary' (harmonic tremolo) effect, which can replace a regular tremolo; a pitch/phaser vibrato, which can (kinda) replace a regular vibrato; and the univibe setting which is a new addition to the afford-a-board.

an octave down into an octave up or vice-versa is an interesting effect as well Also do you know of a cheaper flanger that doesn't do that in-and-out effect? Like a stationary jet engine as opposed to one that is flying overhead (giving the dopplar effect). I like the 'whine' of a flanger but I don't like the 'in-and-out' dopplar effect of flangers. Maybe there is one with an expression pedal that i can just keep at one position the whole time?

That vibe is great, I've been looking to buy one for a while now. Is it analogue? I'm not an analogue only tone snob, my experience of budget pedals is that if there's an analogue option, it's less likely to give that nasty digital clipping. I went with your Mosky reverb selection, for when I want that vintage guitar tone, it's good for what it is, but I can't use it for my regular feedback and noise stuff, because it will clip, in that unusable digital way if pushed. You really have to spend a bit to get a decent sounding reverb. Also you can get a great sounding, multi option digital delay for less bucks than a reverb, but if you hit it hard, fm static time.

You can also swap it for a tremolo as well, since it has the harmonic tremolo setting that is supposed to replicate the Leslie. Remember, the $99 JHS harmonic tremolo is only harmonic trem and regular trem. This is half the price, and you get vibe sounds as well

@-jank-willson
@-jank-willson Жыл бұрын
@@60CycleHumcast Not sure TBH. Many great univibe clones for around 80$ and up. But $80 is a little too much for afford-a-board. JHS mentioned in their video about univibes that a 'true' univibe has the spinny photo sensor thing built into the circuit (that looks like a mini fidget spinner, remember those things?). That spinny thing is what makes univibes cost more, and what makes them physically larger usually. But honestly, this pedal does a pretty good replica of it with the pitch modulation, and while it may not be 100% accurate, it creates its own unique sound, just like the original univibe was trying to re-create a leslie, but ended up making a unique sound instead! Also this pedal has the harmonic trem setting on it (the 'rotary' setting) to more accurately re-create the leslie, which is nice because the cheapest harmonic trem before this pedal came out, was the JHS 3-series harmonic trem for $99. I am on the waiting list to get one! (on their site it is the only pedal that is sold out, probably because of this review!) *E D I T* On second thought, I think the 'vibe' setting is a real univibe, or at least sounds like it (maybe the pedal is digital and it is emulating the sound of a univibe?), whereas the 'vibrato' setting is the pitch vibrato I mentioned before...
