This whole clutch really is just, "I will survive in any condition". Considering how bad some of those eggs looked, and despite that, they pulled through.

Yeah, I was really surprised, especially since some of them looked really weird while still in the egg! I was bracing myself for Emily to say "Unfortunately, a couple didn't make it" or something, and then when she didn't, I had to go back and recount to make sure there were nineteen eggs in the clutch to begin with. Survivors!! 🥰

Idk what channel it was but I saw someone hatching pythons and after watching only snake discovery hatching videos for 2 years I was pretty disturbed when the guy actually pulled the snakes out of their eggs. It didn't help either that he did it so confidently, like comparing a first time snake handler (very cautious and gentle) to someone who moves a hundred snakes a day or something. o.O

Wait, the baby you “tickled” out of the egg wasn’t the one you first saw in there! When you peeked in that egg, it was clearly an albino (12:20), but the one you tickled out was clearly a normal type (30:30). So, it didn’t just slither back into its own egg, but the egg of one of its siblings, I guess?

@@meh_im_a_sheep6018 I mean. Not really? If you want a clutch of albinos you just grab two albino parents and pair them. When they touched upon the professor who previously did studies about hypo-melanism (3:52), Emily mentions both parents were linebred. For those wondering: Linebreeding is a form of inbreeding where the parents share a common ancestor but not in the first- or second degree. (What that means is that one parent is bred with either their great-grandparents, great-grandchildren, grand-uncles, grand-aunts, first cousins, half-uncles, half-aunts, half-nieces and half-nephews. Or a relative further back; which for the purpose of linebreeding would be less frequently used as it will be more difficult to track the genetics you're looking for.)

Very clear explanation, thanks. I think they also explained in a different video while they were line-breeding something themselves that it doesn't affect snakes as badly as inbreeding affects other animals e.g. breeding dogs for example.

It really does seem like Carnival Mike was the dad for most of them. Might want to get in touch with whoever got him and let them know he's het for more genes than you thought.

@@arcaninetyfour2239 I am still wondering if some babies have a completly different dad? Like CM was probably the dad for most and I would think het hypo, but het axanthic and white sided and then we only get one white sided? That did not look like a 50% white sided clutch

I do think the thought someone had in an earlier video came true. Maybe since the incubator was *so* full it caused some temp issues, even if minor ones. The shelves has mesh bottoms to allow air flow, but snake eggs in plastic bins didn't allow the air flow. (Also sounds like you need Carnival Mike back cause of his diversity of hets.)
