@@hadarfischler8507 memorisation is actually called “pre reading” and it’s the first and most necessary step for a child to read. Without memorising words, sentences, children won’t learn. It’s the same when you as an adult meet a group of other adults. You are introduced to them and in order to know who is whom, you need to memorise their name. Learning happens through repetition, through memorisation. Childrens picture story books and poems and nursery rhymes generally have repetitive words - the cat sat on the mat, the dog sat on the mat, the rabbit sat on the mat. The child begins to recognise “the / sat / on / mat” by repetition and the visual of a cat on a mat lets them know it’s the page about the cat on the mat. So technically speaking, Amelia is actually reading at the sweet age of three.
