My dad rescued a spider monkey in the late 60s from a tiny local zoo that was going out of business, she was fully grown. My parents had 7 children and I was about 10. My mom said well what's another monkey, the monkey I think actually adopted us. Missy was a big part of our family for many years. We built her an outdoor structure like a jungle gym where she could swing, jump and run around. Many great stories and fond memories of a member of our family that we got to share with.

In the eyes of a baby, child, teen, adult...all the stages of life as we know it, these animals seldom reach more than a toddler without intense training and they are better off not being forced to perform for us. Everyone on earth would agree that animals are a godsend. They've been with us and taken care of since civilization first emerged. There's statues of kings cuddling with cats, or walking with their dogs by their sides. Dogs have always partaken in hunts, and they protected their hunters from tigers and bears, since prehistoric times. Even in the mongal empire, hitting or killing a horse would result in a death sentence for the convicted. Mongols were raised essentially by and with their mares, and they developed bonds of trust and love with each other. Humanity will always care for our beloved animals.

It is sad but when people say how it brakes their hearts to know how they are taken from their moms well it is no different, lets say, a dog breeder--that mom dog has a litter of pups and appropriately 4 to 6 weeks after birth they take those puppies 1 at a time and sell them to families who they find responsible people. OK, why does everyone think it is ok to take those puppies from the mom but they think it is not ok to take a monkey and sell it. Yes, I do understand that it is wrong and there are some nasty people out there but just like this man, there are many great people. When a spider monkey walks upright it is a telling tale the primate has been in a captive situation. Wild spider monkeys don't walk upright. They run on all 4s.

Thank you. From my heart, thank you for your compassion, love and understanding of these beautiful, smart deserving creatures. Thank you for deciding not to have Winston have to go elsewhere. The love, trust he has for you is almost tangible thru this video. What joy little Winston shows running in the grass, putting the sadness he experienced behind him, hopefully. Him and the other beautiful primates you were petting...their eyes are so soulful. From the time I was a teenage girl, I've been reading the wonderful stories of Diane Fossey, Jane Goodall. Such amazing women. Great work. I'll be looking into how to help. How special. 😊🐒
