It looks like a puppy following a friend down the road. Only the road in this case is Scotland’s Forth Estuary, an arm of the North Sea near Edinburgh, and the puppy is an energetic gray seal, probably a juvenile. After tailing kayaker Alistair Forrest and his companion for about a mile, the seal took advantage of a break in the paddling to hop aboard Forrest's kayak. I went to a marina science center in east germany a couple of years ago, where they were studying Seals and Grey Seals in the baltic sea. One can rent a day swimming with these beautiful beings in station. They are amazing beings, curious, friendly and playful (of course, they are used to have humans around them). Being with them in the water was the most amazing experience i've ever had, especially when you have in mind that they can mess you up without any problems if they want, because they are totally superior over a human in the water.

Our school class went to the Zoo when I was very young. The animals I fell in love with were otters, they fascinated me. There is something special about sea creatures like seals and otters with their adorable eyes that make you want to connect with them. What we need to realise is that they are just as curious about us as we are about them.

No it wasn't. The seal followed them for at least a mile and casually got on the kayak. If a shark was chasing the seal then it would of jumped out of the water in a desperate attempt to get away.

Seal lions are so smart, friendly and adorable. If you ever get to meet a rescue at a sea park give them a big hug!

That was a seal, not a sea lion. Sea lions (not seal lions) have very large front flippers they use to walk on land, and they have noticeable ear flaps, where seals front flippers are much smaller so on land they wiggle on their bellies, and they do not have noticeable ear flaps. Also sea lions are brown and they have a loud bark, like the ones at the sea parks. Seals are darker in color, and they do not bark

that's what I was thinking, but it looks like they are in some sort of closed area, like a bay or something: maybe it's the kind of place where many people kayak and swim every day and the local fauna lives in their close proximity. seals are very intelligent and curious, if they're used to humans they're likely to approach them just to see what's up.
