@Mrimperfectcircle No, that was more about hard, unflattering light than about exposure as such. For this shoot, there were two balanced, undiffisued sources up high and hitting from about 45 degrees either side of the model. (Check the chin shadows.) That led to dark circles under the eyes and brighter-then-optimal skin highlights, which makes the model look pale and drawn. That lighting, though, also made the white "flatter", so it's easier to demonstrate the metering problem.

@piccoloxl1 Autofocus works by using contrast. If you try to focus on something with no contrast it wont work.

If your tv is USB capable you can simply connect your camera using it. I only connect my camera to my laptop, then do a screen copy to another monitor for customer viewing. Check with your camera instruction book, the information may be there. Good luck.

I know by my experience " is a common word by all tutors. But is there any way to find out should be exposure compensation how much to be calculated? Please show me any method other than incident light meter.

You didn't mention your metering mode.. but I noticed when you was shooting your model Erica that your metering mode was on Centre-weighted mode.

Hey, brilliant video series. I'm using a 5D MkII and can't get the camera to autofocus on a black wall to try out this project. I'm using a 50mm EF 1:1.4. Is there a way to get it to focus without using the IR of a speedlight flash? Thanks

I know that when using the model that you were adjusting for the black & white colors in the scene. To me though, her skin in the pictures didn't look natural or healthy. Is it because the metering of the majority of the picture was in extreme ends of the spectrum and it had an effect on her skin color?

Please i have this important question Does using an Dx lens on FX body damages the Fx camera?
@fuzzyfaisalgmail8 жыл бұрын
So, this means that we don't need exposure compensation when shooting in manual mode?

What an amazing video tutorial, however this may be a great skill to have but easily fixed in photoshop if u can't be bothered to piss around with metering ;) either learn it its a good skill to know.

for this video, what's the metering mode you're using?
@lookingthroughwinter92257 жыл бұрын
How can you do a video on exposure compensation but not explain what metering system you use to justify said settings. It seems you are metering from matrix, but who meters from matrix in a studio environment? It also seems you automate settings, aka program, but again...who shoots that in an controlled environment such as a studio environment?

I have tried this experiment with both black and white boards using the same camera settings and my camera's Shutter would not engage and release…Why did that happen?
@dannyholland15738 жыл бұрын
+MrTanker10a Your autofocus probably didnt lock on and release the shutter. You can set your shutter to release without focus lock, or put your lens in manual focus.

i do got a point tho. how professional am i gonna look when i say to the model, hey hold on a sec, thats a black wall, my camera is not ready for a massive curve ball like that, let me just trick it. then she say, but your a pro, can't you buy a good camera", and i say, it is. *awkward silence and crap photos*
