This is fantastic! I love the One Light tutorial shoots you do. I think alot of newer photographers get the impression you need 3, 4 or more lights to get great photos. Awesome job to Daniel and of course...high-five to the amazing Marisa!

I hope someday to meet both of you. Just became addicted and bought an icon Z9 and then went nuts with flash and photo light equipment. Live just outside New York City can't wait to go in and start taking pictures. Learned so much from watching your videos Daniel and Marissa is truly beautiful I think she's my favorite model that you photograph She always look so fantastic.

This format has a very "workshop" feel which is nice, and both you and your model are relaxed, funny and fun to watch. The downside is it takes much longer to get the ideas across so the viewer has to have spare time to burn. I really got a kick out of a number of off-hand comments you made, like the one about assuming TTL isn't going to work, which is spot on. :)
@billmcfadden47916 жыл бұрын
ttl works for joe mcnally but not for me. I wonder if one reason why it works for mcnally is he shoots from tripod so his camera oisition does not change while building the shoot.

Favorite things about this video: (1) Marissa (2) Long format (3) "....because it's always important to be in focus on your black frame." Envious of: (1) All of those c-stands and studio equipment Not envious of: (1) Canon Great video!

Thanks Daniel and Marisa! I love this style of lighting. It reminds me of the quality of light in Herb Ritts' pictures. Wonderful what you can get with such a simple setup. Of course I wonder how this would work in a darker studio? Or doesn't that matter since you first shot your black frame to cancel out any ambient?

Another great tutorial, thanks Daniel! Why use a standard light stand for the scrim jim, rather than a c-stand? (I can imagine if you need to move it a lot, but a c-stand would be so much more stable, yes?)
@DanielNortonPhotographer7 жыл бұрын
Chris Knight that stand is from the super boom so it’s pretty sturdy and I knew I’d be rolling it, but sure a C stand would have been great.
@stevemaloney73055 жыл бұрын
Good video. It seems CaptureOne cycle time for presenting the photos is pretty short. I've used the capture feature of LightRoom and it didn't cycle near this fast. I wonder if it's the software or the hardware that''s making the difference. I wasn't using a very fast laptop.

Thank you for your videos. What types of stand and grips & clamps, etc..did you used to hold the Scrimm Jim? Also, what top piece did you use to attach your light to the C-stand?
@DanielNortonPhotographer7 жыл бұрын
The stand is from Manfrotto, it is for the "super boom" www.adorama.com/bg008bu.html (with wheels added) a standard grip head and the old version of the Scrim Jim clamp. - nothing special to attach the flash.
