@@AdrianBellue Well you deserve it. I started following Hedges with the "BREAKFAST IN THE FIELD" release. Liked a few of those Windham Hill musicians. But yeah Hedges mesmerized me and then I seen on the CD liner notes that it was recorded direct to 2 track. I knew I had to see him live if I got a chance but sadly, we know how the story ended. I remember this guy Stanley Jordon (nothing personal against him) came out of no where soon there after and he garned much attention and I was telling everyone, Michael Hedges has already did this and much better. Really saddened me that it worked out like that. Hedges was still really only know in musician circles when he died in the car crash. He was deserving of far more recognition that he got before his death. It is really great though seeing some like yourself who picked up the torch kind of thing and actually in my opinion, taken it to the next level. Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on but.., Mr. Hedges though I personally did not go in his direction musically, he definitely made an influence upon me to want to play guitar. I will always have a special place inside me for the first track of his I heard "The Happy Couple".
@AdrianBellue
@AdrianBellue 5 жыл бұрын
AURAL FIXXATION ahh that’s an awesome story :) I’m glad Michael made such an impact on you. I agree that he did not receive the recognition he deserved. He did something so unique it inspired a future of guitar players. And Stanley Jordan is an awesome person, we did a show recently and it was very inspiring to work together!
@auralfixxation6702
@auralfixxation6702 5 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianBellue Didn't expect such a quick response. Stanley Jordan is still doing it, that's great. The thing is though, I knew his star would burn out pretty quickly. With this type of style, there's only going to be a certain amount of loyal followers. America is not very accommodating to real musicianship. Kaki King for example, I still follow her even though she kind of got off of the Hedges type stuff for a while. Her first couple releases though I really enjoyed. She kind of made a splash at first (mainly thanks to Conan O'Brien) but then faded.

0:50 - 1:07 thats the right way to play an acoustic guitar! Strong punch, percussive, dynamics! Too many acoustic guitarists are just tinkling around with the same volume, boring and predictable. When i was listening to this for the first time i was kinda expecting to hear electric guitar at any moment, it was so fast-paced and felt metal-ish. But instead of electric 'hit' i did get depth and melody and, well, talent - i could HEAR all this layers you created there and i have to say, electric noises would spoil this masterpiece. Amazing. I am listening to this every day for a week now (not the whole time, i am not a psycho! ;) ), i cant get it out of my head. I absolutely love it.
