Adrian, thanks for all the support. You had a way of talking me through tricks at McGills park that no one else could have done. It would have taken me a long time to get up the nerve for tricks I was already doing on the seven foot ramp. Great skateboarding with you in a great time of my life.

This was a great episode. I was born in 89 and started skating in 99 and I lived in a tiny rural town. So all of this history was completely unknown to me so I’m really thankful to have it now as I’m getting older and really appreciating what led up to my era of skating and how we got where we are now.

Adrian was a really nice dude even at the height of his career. Met him up in Vancouver when there was a contest at the World Expo and I drove up from LA, at 15, to watch. I was just sitting in the stands by myself with my camera and he sat down to rest between heats and struck up a small conversation. Good old days.
@robfromvan2 жыл бұрын
I talked to him extremely briefly at Expo 86 too. That’s cool that you drove so far. A lot of people came from all over the world. As my username suggests I’m from Vancouver and had a season pass and saw all the pavilions and was there every day for the skate comp. I had only been skating for about 6 months. I talked longer to Tony Magnusson and Steve Caballero. I didn’t like that they didn’t have a street event cuz my heros were more Gonz and Natas cuz where the hell does an average kid get a vert ramp right? Or any ramp that isn’t just a jump ramp, hahahaha.

Adrian is one of the coolest dudes ever. DMSR was my local park and I would see him and Tony all the time in his Uncle Wiggly days when he had those epoxy and or foam boards. Although I was just the random kid at the park they were always cool in the keyhole and always let me have my turn even though I was just learning. Stuff like that goes a long ways. I ran into him again at the Encinitas park in the 2000s and as adults years after him being pro still just as cool . 😎 Great episode

I doubt anyone actually complained, they probably just rewatched and thought, "Well...it was a different time, but let's go ahead and just comment over that." I talked like that back then too, but I don't today and it doesn't really translate well. Our words never came from a place of hatred, it was more a place of ignorance, and I've grown and lived a lot since the 80's.

Hello gentlemen! I’ve a concern about the “algorithm”(?) I’m going to voice…I watched your broadcast yesterday in its entirety (while signed in to yt) I gave it a “like”/thumbs up, and read a few comments. Today I see that this same broadcast is popping up in my recommended but without the indicator that signifies I’ve previously viewed it. Looking further into it I noticed that the thumbs up I opted for was not registered nor was the broadcast listed in my watch history, for reference, the 1min vid of Mr. Schneer I watched afterwards was. Whether or not it matters to you most excellent men, I do have a concern that your channel might be getting the SHAFT…I feel there should be more views for the amount of hours this most excellent broadcast has been available, and should be more comments AND also I’m a bit chapped my thumbs up was seemingly lost. I had a thought this broadcast was possibly re-uploaded because of the title with the “g” and “d” swapped in the word “brigade”, which I only realized after reading a comment, but I don’t think that’s it. Now that I’ve drawn this out sounding like a whiner, I may as well keep going…my first pro deck was an 87ish second hand pink PP Hawk model…I was able to give it back to the original owner (who obviously had sellers remorse) ten years later. I also had (and have) my PP Mike V very well used deck signed by Mike in ‘93 at a skate shop demo, I was eighteen and it was the first time I thought I was a bit too old to be at an event such as this but then said F that and have remained a punk kid into my late forties. For example I had the opportunity to run a 9000sq ft. indoor skatepark between 2001-2005 in the middle of nowhere…I will say; after a busy February Saturday type day, the serenity of the silence brings some of the best memories of it. I’m now sud$ribed to your channel. Thank you!
@-Ricky_Spanish-2 жыл бұрын
It was re-uploaded. The original one had a homophobic slur from the original audio in Steve Schnleer's clip that left a bit of a sour note. I think they opted to re-edit it to remove that unnecessary distraction.
@Antonowskyfly2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info! I did hear it…oops…those were the days. Coincidentally the same slur was hurled at me mere hours ago by two weenies in an old truck while navigating moderate city traffic, I was on a dual sport moto and ended up having to bail off the asphalt through a ditch to avoid them as they sped after me on the shoulder. Had a good laugh at them as I encouraged them to follow. Anyway…I was able to go through the re-upload while I pecked out that bloody novel but didn’t register the omission. Thank you.
