Diaz has improved a lot over recent years, especially on forehand. Now she is a more balanced player.

Her backhand is something else. That's one thing we all can learn from Adriana.

@@pong4life What this match shows is Lily's service is at a lower level compared to her playing level. Lily used to beat up on Adriana when she was younger. Lily's serves have not evolved. How many points did Diaz win on her hook serve? Her serves works well against domestic players but once she is faced with international matches her serves are exploited by opposing players. At the recently concluded Nationals, even though Sally Moyland lost, Sally's serves were much better than Lily. I recall that the US head coach had admitted to Lily's shortcoming and would recommend she learn other serves. This was more than a year ago and I do not see much improvement.

Diaz's attack is phenomenal. Lily stance is like the fellow from Brazil.

Serve and Receive. Lily winning the longer rallies but not causing any problems in serve and receive. Diaz was able to vary her serves and get free points. After weak serves Lily found herself on the receiving end of fast digs to her backhand and she'd pivot to pop theball uo with Diaz waiting to kill them. Couple this with edges going Diaz's way and the game was over despite Lily overcoming Diaz in the rallies.

Is lily’s serve legal? It looks like it is tossed very far backwards.

It's legal if the umpire allows it. Sometimes an umpire can be very strict. If a serve bothers me a lot (to the point that disadvantages the receiver), I'd complain to an umpire.

I agree with you that Lily's serves are all illegal. Lily tosses the ball towards herself instead of vertically and she hides the ball with her left hand.

yeah, I overheard Lily talking to her coach about that. I have not seen any girl (even guys) who can hit as hard as Adriana.

@@mikodesain I can imagine. btw, I saw a more recent video of Adriana vs Sun Yingsha. Adriana used her powerful BH to win some key points. Sun seemed stunned, like she hasn't encountered so much power from any other player.

I've always felt LZ lowers her CG more than what is necessary for her height. She is not particularly tall. It affects her forward and sideways movements. It's affecting her short game and transitions.

@@jitendranair4060 Some bend their waist while others bend at knee. Which in your opinion is more effective? Also, do you think it's better to stand still or move a little while waiting to receive?

@@pong4life In my personal opinion better to find a balance between bent knees and width of your stance to lower the CG. The taller you are the wider your stance need to be. Bending at the waist doesn't really help in rallies. Just Bend waist enough to keep your weight forward. Moving a bit up and down on your toes makes your reactions and footwork faster. The Law of inertia applies here big time.

While it is true that players in Americas are granted easy points from pan-American games, both Dias and Zhang are still very good. Perhaps WR#9 is a little inflated, but Diaz is at least #20, nothing to scoff at, especially considering the lack of TT training environment outside of Asia and Europe.

For me it's not worth it (even though some like it). I just tried it to see if it's doable with my limited setup and to get an idea how much effort is required to edit them.
