As someone who chases tornadoes and intercept hurricanes, I've put myself in some dangerous situations. But nothing is more dangerous than someone who is totally oblivious. The people at the very end at that "market in Sydney" standing under all of those trees, not to mention on the wrong side of the tree they're parked up against. I was just waiting for that to come down.

I don’t know why I watch these. One of the things I’ve always had terrible anxiety over even as a child is weather, not sure why. Makes me an anxious mess just watching these, I can’t imagine how those experiencing it must be feeling. I’m fortunate to live in the UK where we rarely experience many extremes of any kind, but I did once get caught in severe weather (which turned out to be a mini tornado not far from where I live) in my teens, it practically lifted me up just an inch or so from the floor & wouldn’t let me move forward, that really shook me up (weather turned quickly when I was out). Can’t even begin to imagine experiencing Mother Nature in extremes like this. Thanks for posting!
@DavidHernandez-dk1zs
@DavidHernandez-dk1zs Жыл бұрын
It's probably because most human catastrophes throughout history have been caused primarily by unpredictable weather. Millions of people in history have died by drowning during severe floods, crushed during earthquakes, burnt to a crisp in forest fires, blown away in hurricanes or tornadoes, electrocuted in thunder storms. Mother nature is still the most powerful force on earth, every once in a while it gives us a reminder of it.
@LauraBidingCitizen
@LauraBidingCitizen Жыл бұрын
@@DavidHernandez-dk1zs You’re absolutely correct. History was one of the few subjects I actually enjoyed during my school years. My parents had a huge set of enclyopedias, & I often referred to them for school projects. I was amazed how many were based on natural disasters dating way back. I suppose it didn’t help that I grew up on a farm, & we had haystack fires (some were arson, some were caused by extreme weather / heat), & when you have balls of hay flying past your bedroom window on fire, & your room is lit up orange, it frightens the living daylights out of you! My brother lives in California now, & deals with earthquakes but I’m somewhat grateful he isn’t living somewhere with more ‘extreme’ weather (dare I say; not that I wish to downplay earthquakes!!) I just can’t fathom how anyone can live a life wondering if tomorrow they’ll have a roof over their heads, or if they’ll be alive to care 😔

That last clip is reminiscent of one July 4th in my small Michigan city when we were all surprised by an unexpected storm while waiting to see the fireworks. This was probably almost 20 years ago. A couple of the segments look like they were from the Midwest derecho of a couple of years ago. I had no idea what was happening when the storm went through. I thought it was a tornado, but the usual tornado signs weren't there - just intense wind, trees blowing sideways, and a lot of big debris flying around. It was scary because I could hear things scraping along the roof, which was new. I don't go downstairs for most tornado warnings and a bit of wind and rain don't scare me, but that derecho was something different.

About a thousand were killed in one brgy. including someone we personally know. I've been in softball size hail storms, 5 tornadoes and 2 hurricanes. The biggest thing people don't get from these videos is the aftermath weeks or months after these events. Going days and days without shelter, electricity, water and sanitation. After hurricane Opal, I remember not being able to go to the bathroom in a working toilet for 2 weeks, out of electricity for over 3 and months before our house was repaired.

I live in Southwest Florida! About an hour south of Sarasota, on the coast. I think the thing that would bother me the most about the aftermath of the storms would be the heat and humidity. I know I could live without lights & other amenities, but I think what kills most people is the heat. I’ve got plenty of water and batteries etc. and even have some battery operated fans, but again it’s the heat that would bother me the most, even though I’ve lived in Florida for 28 years !! & must say that I love Florida, storms & all. 😌

The fact you let the storms speak for themselves is fantastic, if you could just indentify each place that'd be awesome. I'm just bad at guessing where each of them is. These events are pretty much why I don't travel anymore. What happens where I am is enough for me (far nth NSW) & I simply don't want to take the risks now that everything is sooooooo unpredictable. So thanks for bringing it to KZbin & I don't have to see it in person. The damage up here at the beginning of the year (luckily our place was safe) is still affecting Kms of the area. Stay Safe everyone & insurance is your best friend, fact : saved my ass.... personally not taking chances. (but I love my insurance company)(no I'm not saying who it is because not everyone has the same experience) Take care of yourselves out there and 💖💋🇦🇺

Ohe time I was on my way to Florida with some family, while we were in Kentucky, a huge tornado randomly formed! We had warnings, loud sirens, automatic voice messages saying take cover, and we had to hide in a store! The only funny part is, everything but hobby lobby was wrecked(the building we were in didn’t get destroyed either)

These storms are really scary, I experienced one where I live. It started raining a little, we were going to go run but we went back cuz it was raining just a little. But when we got home. It started raining hard. My brother was really generous for running out and unlocking the door for me and my mom. But then, when me and my mom were counting down through 3 to run out. It started raining really hard and tiny ice cubes were falling from the sky. I got brused because they kept hitting my arm. But I am all healed now.

Never experienced a tornado but I have experienced hurricanes and tropical storms as I used to live in Southern USA. Of different categories actually. They can be very scary. The noise of a Cat 3 hurricane as it is barreling down your city is something I’ll never forget. Or the flooding after a tropical storm; the damage is just incredible.
