I'm a white girl and didn't get into her music until after she died. When I was picking out a name for my daughter I wanted a name that meant something. I chose Selena because she was such an incredible person. The night that I had my daughter, I turned the tv on in my hospital room and the Selena movie was on. I took that as fate. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas the place she grew up and this hits close to the heart. Corpus is a small place so alot of people can still remember her vividly, one of her family members went to school with me, she when to my friends aunts wedding, and basic a lot of people here have small memories and have had personal interactions and acually grew up with her, so her death really hit us hard here in Corpus and her music is really has a special place in our heart for us.

I cry when I watch her, she was absolutely the real thing. I was a senior in high school when she passed, it was hard to take in. Love that people are still enchanted by her, that is her legacy. Oh.
