I use two very different types. Main street helmet is a Scorpion modular one. Flip up chin bar, regular clear visor and drop down sun visor. It does get hot in the warmer months so I switch to an O’Neal Mx helmet. When it’s really hot and when hitting the dirt. I have some sensitive eyes so the old school goggles help keep the dirt out and allow maximum airflow. My tail box is big enough to hold the unused helmet on long rides when I may need to switch up.

Thanks Dale!! That actually helps alot! I do realize helmets are much like buying motorcycles, everyone has their own preference. Just knowing what to look for in an ADV helmet helps alot, even on a budget. Thanks again! Jon

Hey Dale another great video. My go to helmet is Arai. I realize they are on the high side price wise, but in my opinion well worth the price. It’s an investment well worth the extra cost. Over my life time I have used many different brands and types of helmets which where on the cheap list. For street riding I use a full face helmet which is great for my sport bikes and cruisers. I have a dual sport helmet with visor I use when riding my KLR 650 or KLX300. My street helmet is most expensive helmet I have ever owned. I didn’t know at the time I purchased it that it was a special edition, which they no longer produce. Although I have had it for few years, I recently found out it’s worth more now than when I purchased it. I encourage people to wear a helmet. You only have one brain-housing group, so take care of it.

Oh wow. Yes sir. When I had my Ducati street bike I had one. It was a very very nice helmet. I don’t know what happened to it but it was the best one I ever had. That’s coool yours is a limited addition. That’s awesome. Thank you so very much for the kind words as well as taking the time to share this with us. I too agree wear it. It may come in handy. I hope it doesn’t but it may. Thanks again my friend. I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale.

I really enjoy your videos, since I'm new to the KLR 650 and ADV world. I have been looking for a new helmet, doing quite a bit of research. I have an older HJC (not full-face) which is better than nothing. I see many positive reviews of the Nexx helmets. I don't mind spending decent money for good protection. Thanks again and God bless you!

I will start by saying, first, COngarts on your new bike. I love mine and I hope you find yours as fun as I have. The Nexx helmet, this is my second one. I loved the first one and it esentaily aged out. I believe they say 5-6 years and get a new one. This one does have a fair amount of features and I do like the smaller built in hemet comms system they have. It is equivalent to the Sean 10. Sena, it s good comms system, however, the 20 and 30 are better for pairing with more riders etc. Since I am mostly solo, the 10 does a good job of pairing with my phone as well as the GPS, so I can still get turn by turn direction in my helmet which for me and taking those longer road trips is helpful. The GPS also updates the speed limits, and state laws as well as your crossing state lines, Helmet laws etc. I always wear my helmet, so that didnt matter as much as the tune by turn and the speed updates on the speed limits etc. Just another fun feature of the GPS. Again congrats, welcome to the family and have a blessed week my friend. dale

Helmets are hard to suggest as it starts with price, then which brand fits your head, then your opinion on ratings of protection and finally , the girl issue, sound/color! HJC i10 with 10b Sena intercom. Works well and have multiple helmets as I don't like smell in my helmet from hot VA and humidity. Just my two pennies.

For the street/highway, I use a Shoei RF 1400. For off-road/ADV type riding, a Bell MX 9. For years, Shoei fit and comfort are just superior. Saving up for a Shoei Hornet ADV helmet now. The Bell is ok...just not quite up to Shoei quality. But the Bell is half the price too.

I'm using a hjc i90. It's a street helmet and wasn't my first choice but there aren't many options in 4xl.

Helmets are like picking a spouse, what suits one others may despise it. The issues I have with anything for safety is its always overpriced. The recommendations is to replace a helmet every 5 years but some helmets are over $500, thats a lot of money for the working class.
@Heartlanddualsport Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I won't deny it can get expensive, but I would rather go the 500 route, use it for 5 years, and get it down to 100 a year than buy a 150 helmet each year that probably dont have the best protection, in the end the cheaper one that will only last a year cost way more. have a blessed week and thanks for watching.
