Até a presente data faz 2 anos e meio que pratico jiu-jitsu, demorou para eu entender que o foco deve ser sempre a sing lag e depois daí a pessoa varia para outras posições.

So useful to see what the instructional moves look like in practice. It ain’t always pretty and that’s just fine!

Purple & White rashy looked tricky, super quick feet, but you tangled up and pulled her in to sweep. Awesome technique on show all.

Those shin on shin entries to butterfly. You just kept hitting them on person after person. I'm going to have to implement that

4:00 I would have never expected that effort from a dude in regular gym shorts. Normally a dead giveaway for a beginner but clearly not here nice side smashing pass attempts!

Nice. Looked like you went to truck a few times and took back off single x. How you setting that up.

:) It's a counter off the backstep. Similar to the jedi mind trick
@kevinhuang7866 жыл бұрын
Love that backstep counter to back take / truck! Does it work against guys that backstep to the saddle/411 as well or just against guys that backstep to pass?

MichaelG brilliant is what it was. Lachie knew he was too deep into the bearhug pass. He concedes the pass by allowing the guy to push his knees toward the ceiling but counters with his own bearhug. He then rolls under his opponent and pummels his leg to the outside to get a good bite on the opponents armpit with his legs and moves his bearhug grip to the nearside thigh/hip - basically a crucifix which isolates a leg and arm rather than two arms. He then rotisserie chickens his aussie ass to the top for the reversal. The crucifix was an especially nice touch as it counters his get up.

A wrestling move. not sure what it's called. kind of like a defensive backstep turn

A few people said but yeah its something I picked up from training wrestling with Talgat Ilyasov, plus some jiu jitsu improvisation on top of that. The rugby pass is basically the same as a double leg when you land, so wrestlers have heaps of cool options from there.

Amazing Lachlan. Thanks so much for this. What's your strategy when playing seated guard against a standing opponent again, but this time when your opponent is not really engaging and are standing off?
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
Hey Anil, I usually try to hook the shin and close the distance fast for a sit up guard (hugging the leg)

so how do you lose? Is it any tap or sweep sends the top guy out, and bottom guy loses if tapped only?

First to score points. Bjj points system is a lot kinder to the guy on bottom

Is that a combination of Lucas Lepri sit up guard with Marcelo Garcia's shin on shin? o.0 You need to release a dvd on butterfly guard, slx and x-guard transistions.

Can this style be played by taller players? If so, do you have any recommendations as to where I should look for advice/resources?
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
Hey K Lewis, yeah it does for sure. Marcelo Garcia is the person to study but he is not tall haha. I've trained with tall people who use this game well but can't think of a good person to study unfortunately. Come to Thailand if you can!
@SanderZurhake5 жыл бұрын
Gordon Ryan is tall and took nogi worlds with a similar type guard

How do you do the shin on shin single x entry without getting guillotined? Is it just by having good posture in your spine/neck? I've been having a really unpleasant time for the past few months when I've tried this one haha.

Lachlan, how come when you pull from shin-on-shin into the SLX, you fall backwards instead of to your side like you demonstrate in your technique videos? Is it because things get messy in live rolls and dont go your way? I always find it difficult to get into the SLX from shin-on-shin when i'm flat on my back like that.
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
I usually fall backwards if I need to get their weight forward (trying to get their hands to post on the mat) Good observation!

Hi Coach, i play underhook half guard and deep half patterned after you, Bernardo Faria, leite, etc. (I often go to single leg x, rev half, 50 50 from deep half.) Anyway, do you think the butterfly guard connects well with this kind of game? I've been analyzing it and I do not think it connects well so i am curious to know your thoughts.
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
Yes, It does! I do use a lot of half guard, sit up guard and RDLR as well. I cover this a lot in my new instructional i'm working on. Waiter sweep position, half guard and RDLR are also a great way to enter X and single X
@chestersing6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Coach! I ask because I noticed that you used plenty of shin/rdlr entry to single leg x rather than the butterfly hook sweep. I've always struggled with butterfly because it feels so scrambly as compared to shin/sit up, rdlr, half guard underhook, kimura game. Also, the grips and distance requirements seem so different from the underhook game. In any case, because you advice it, i'll spend more time on it.
@chestersing6 жыл бұрын
Also, I'm looking forward to your instructional! I'll watch out for it!
