Thank you for doing the most detailed description of this adjustable backrest installation. This is a fiddly job for sure. The written instructions leave a lot to be desired. One thing that adds a little complexity is if you have the left side heat shield. You have to sandwich that between the lever bracket and the frame. Also, on my 2013, the front fender bracket - the part that connects the main unit to the frame - is way higher than the holes in the frame. It's like the piston unit is not long enough. But I think after seeing this I can just use longer bolts. Again, thanks for taking the time to do this.

My wife bought me the OEM version of this from the dealership for my '17 Road King and cost something like $250. It was not a match made in heaven. Once I had it installed it angled too far forward and had me sitting too far forward forcing me to sit with my junk on the front horn of the seat. I had to take everything apart and I had to improvise by installing 2 spacers with longer bolts on the front end, slightly bending the rear corners so they don't dig into my paint and separated by a rubber gasket. Pain in the ass but I got it where I'm comfortable now. Also it does work with my application of the heat shield because I only need a right side shield since that was the side I'm feeling all the rising heat.

One piece of constructive criticism. You gave the size tool of the first bolt, but didn’t for any other bolt. I noticed you used a hex head but overall an excellent video that is really how these “self help” videos SHOULD be. Your professional, no war stories either. Right to the point, direct and well done! Oh, and you didn’t ask me to like and subscribe BEFORE I even watched the content. I did like and subscribe after watching. I look forward to more content. BTW, some KZbinrs edit certain parts of their video during hard or tricky parts. It goes from the dude struggling to “poof” it’s in! I like how you did not seem to do that. This way we can see and learn the way to negotiate the tricky parts, like the battery cover removal you demonstrated. For your subscribers, a Milton Nut Holder is great for holding the nut onto the wrench. It slips on and off any wrench and holds the nut by a magnetic backer plate. Have fun and go RIDE!

Tried to find this on the website and could not find it!! Your link only takes you to the advanblack website not the backrest.

Can this be used if I have the heat shields on my bike? I see the adjustment knob sits right where the heat shield sits
@Advanblack Жыл бұрын
It will not fit with the heat deflectors. I've seen guys install it and cut this adjuster into the side cover, or in the deflector itself before though...its an idea..I have not done it but I've seen it done.

I really like the back rest and am going to order i have a question what stops someone walking up and removing the back rest from the bike
@Advanblack Жыл бұрын
There are no rider backrests with any sort of lock that would prevent anyone from taking your backrest.

Why do these not work for 2021+ models? Have a 2021 street glide and can't seem to find one of these backrests that will work.

It generally takes a few days from when a video hits and when it shows up on the site.

Do these also work for the tall-boy seats? Us vertically sufficient greybeards need support, too. LOL. Keep up the good work, Steve!
