Advanblack Color Match Tank Dash

I know this is an older video but it was worth viewing. Installed my new painted to match dash today. My bike is Laguna Orange and Advanblack matched it perfectly. Took me 30 min from start to finish, longest time was putting the rubber trim around the bottom on, and removing a clamp from the bottom of the OEM dash that held two lines and was attached with double sided tape. Really happy with this, next purchase, chopped Tourpak in the same color.

Mine leaks vapors and leaves fuel residue around cap. Have tried double flat seals and single flat and the donut one. That made it better but still leaks. There is a slight gap between console and filler neck and seal only seals cap to console so there is a gap for fuel to escape.

Have the same issue with mine. They eliminated the gas vent hose, which builds pressure inside the tank. The fit and paint are spot on, but part needs to be functional, for every day use, not just for show.

On my bike a 2014 ultra the hole for gas cap does not line up with the tank dash hole ? No tank cover stock tank

So I have a question, had my HD dealer instal this and other things month ago but I live in PA so it’s been cold. Just brought the bike to FL yesterday and parked it for a few HOURS, came out and there was fuel all over the cover and the tank. Guess who’s cover now has bubbles in the paint and is now destroyed!? Why don’t you reuse the breather tube? I’ll be contacting your CS about this issue to hopefully have it rectified. I want this to serve as a warning to others.

If you had fuel coming out of your vented cap then you had your fuel level all the way to the top of your tank. heat makes the gas expand and its a vented cap and since you are required to remove the vent hose then the gas would now come out of your cap. you should not ever fill your tank to the brim with a vented cap or even one with a vent hose..that hose serves the same purpose except the gas went down the tube and under the bike..either way its wasting gas out. Any stile pop up gas cap on the market is vented and requires you to remove the vent line.

The vent hose he removed just vents the area between the stock gas cap cover on the stock dash and the gas cap (that flip of chrome door and gas cap area). This replacement part doesn't have that area since the gas cap is exposed and not covered so there is no void that gas vapor could build up in it would just go straight into open air. The vent hose for the tank is left in place.

Steve, I have the flush gas cap already installed on my 21 RGS. Can I reuse that? Or do I need to switch to the one supplied?

It is the 9" Klockwerks Sport Flare. I have the 6" flare on my Street glide also..They are pricey but one of the best screens on the market as far as durability and the way they scoop the air up over you.

I have it on one bike and not on the other...you can use ours we send or the one from your stock dash or none at all...just be aware that the rubber protects the dash from rubbing the tank...there is no movement there after its installed so I personally did not worry about it...that being said if you rewove the rubber and it scratches your tank Advan will not warranty that

Great video as usual....for the O rings with the stock tank, does it matter if you use the 2 flat ones or the round one instead? Also, with this design, the breather hose is not needed....any particular reason why it wouldn't be needed? Thanks

The O rings ae your choice. What you want to feel is the rubber hitting the metal of the tank. You will know then that you have a good seal on the tank. The breather tube is for expansion of the gas during hot months. If you top off your tank and stick it in a hot parking lot the gas will expand and run out of the hose to the ground and will evaporate. Most of the time you dont even know it did it. With a vented gas cap, the vent in the cap is your outlet for expansion. With the style gas cap DO NOT fill your tank up to the top. There must be room for expansion in the tank. All flush gas caps, no matter the brand are vented and need to have room for expansion. If you do not leave this room the expanded gas will come out on your tank. Its the nature of this style cap so keep this in mind.

We supply the rubber trim that keeps the dash from laying on the paint on the tank. We recommend using it however it is your choice.

I don’t believe my seat would reach the bottom of this piece, possibly leaving a gap. Have you ran into this issue with a seat?

I havent personally..but we cannot test every single seat on the market...there are way too many.

Really not a vent hose, it is for overflow on stock console. No overflow pan in the Advanblack console, so hose not needed. I rolled mine up and zip tied it out of the way.

Just wondering if this is a 1/2 inch longer than stock because my seat is got a 1/2 gap from stock console. I'm looking a dash console that is 1/2 inch longer.

They are right at about the same length..maybe a tad longer but I dont think a full half inch

My tank dash came with 2 weather stripping pieces I see that you didn't use any. Do I need to use them. Also they don't go all the way around

They come stock on your original tank dash. You can even pull those off and re use them. They are not glued. This is to keep the two pieces from rubbing, vibrating etc...I recommend you use them, however in my case I used the black ones on the road glide and none on the street glide. But that was my call, so if the paint gets rubbed on either piece, that is on me. Advanblack will not warranty the parts if damage occurs as a result of you not using them.

How do you remove or relocate the cb port?

If you want to remove it just simply unplug it and follow the line back out and either disconnect it or zip tie it up somewhere

when you take the cb port out when you remove the tank dash there is a little nut in front of the cb port take that nut off the port will come off and follow the wire down under the seat and unplug it i did mine
