[Advance Wars 2] (Old)Mission 34: Final Front(300 S-rank Colin/Max/Eagle)

AKA the Colin cheese strategy. You can also use the right side bomber technique, but that setup relies on more RNG.

This honestly feels like a level design flaw. Like, it’s the final level. You shouldn’t be able to abuse it like this. Ah well, you’re gonna let us use Colin people are gonna cheese with him.

The Black Cannon's method of targetting is hilariously flawed. Previous level is even easier to cheese with Grit's Rockets and Md Tank spam from the two other Cos.

Black cannons targeting high cost/HP is okay, but when Colin exists, that means his bombers go under the radar, even neotanks as well when other bombers/neotanks are about, it's crazy the stuff you can get away with as Colin.

Sturm keeps building an Anti-Air unit at 7:13 instead of a Med Tank and it keeps driving me crazy. I have to reload my save every time it happens. Is this just random?

It happened to me just today, but I was able to simply fly around it. He doesn't seem to move it further than the end of the pipe right before the line of fire from the laser

Like some of the other comments, it would be easier for you to save right when the bomber is spawned and try different ways. There are so many different scenarios for the CPU that may or may not spawn a jet. The CPU for me did buy a jet, but he deployed on the complete opposite side of the map… weird. But good luck!

you have my thanks Rzaney. I just couldn't figure out how to get and s rank on this mission and replaying it over and over was frustrating. My first try failed as sturm built a fighter, so I destroyed the right cannon and eventually pushed through the pipes with eagle in the right side for the win. I only got B rank though because of the terrible power ranking mechanic. But I proved to myself that I can do it without resorting to cheese. I got the cheese to work on my 4th or 5th atempt for the s rank afterwards. The way the rng works is weird. Sometimes there is nothing you can do to prevent sturm from building that fighter, no matter how you move your units or what you build. In other attempts he does sth else entirely although I committed to the exact same strategy again.

Oh yeah, I get what you mean. The recording for this level should upload sometime tomorrow for the campaign redo and lists a few of the elements of RNG that make or break the level. I actually tried a speedrun of AW2 a while back, and ended up not uploading it because I lost like 30 minutes from bad RNG on this level I wasn't expecting, so the time was awful!

Short answer: yes Long answer: very yes. One thing that I've found very helpful (and that Rzaney recommends) is to save after every turn in case RNG decides to be a poopyhead. Then if everything has gone right to that point, you can exit the map and go back in to redo the turn and hope the enemy does something different.

I found a away to win with cheese even if he builds a fighter all you have to do is bait the fighter away from the bomber for one turn then use the missile to weaken it enough so it cannot destroy the bomber you wont get a S-Rank but you will still win.
