Torque specs are 11 ft lbs on the first go around then 22 ft lbs on the second pass. Thermostat housing gets torqued to 11 ft lbs.

electric fans on some models. this video probably had those. my avalanche with the same engine has electric fans.

He doesn't show removing the fan or the fan shroud. Removing the fan is the most difficult part of the process.

To install a new water pump> Requires, new hoses, belts, thermostat, antifreeze coolant, and maybe some clamps. Cause when the water pump goes out, ITS NOT LONG! THESE THINGS WILL FAIL AS WELL> This will give you many many years of service. Why wait for some thing else to fail? DO IT? DO IT RIGHT 👍👍 Stop leak will buy you some time. BUT ITS GOING TO FAIL AS WELL. Big Time

Older model 5.3 V8s have fan/clutch. I have 2008 Silverado and it has the electric fans. I believe we are looking at something similar here. This channel has another video with an older 5.3 with the fan/clutch.

If I have metal with rubber gaskets and not paper gaskets, should I still apply gasket maker to the metal rubber gaskets ?

My question, before I replace the water pump is this, "Can the water pump make a chirping noise when it is starting to go bad." Mine started making the noise here recently and using an automotive stethoscope I believe the noise is coming from the water pump, but it's tough to say for certain. I removed the serpentine belt and ran the engine and the noise went away. Once I put the belt back on, the noise returned.

Vernon McNabb The chirping noise could be the water pump but it could be the idler or tension pulley they both have that noise when the bearing is starting to go bad!

I’m in the same boat ... I changed belt and tensioner and idle pulley but noise didn’t go away so I think it might be the water pump

My chirping noise was my power steering pump. I used a mechanic stethoscope to pinpoint it. Easy fix.

On my 5.3 it was major leaking. I removed the old pump it looked very new and it spun nicely. It had 2 aluminum gaskets i believe one blew out. The Alumaseal did not seal it and Normally i have 99% good results

He most likely has the twin electric fan like mine. The z71 package didn't have the the clutch fan thank god

Do not put gasket maker with an actual gasket. One or the other.
