Hey this content is awesome, it summarizes and simplifies a lot of different concepts like control/user plane separation, 4G/5G contrast, Service Based Architecture the logical rep of 5G and also the network slicing concept. Great material and nice selection of diagrams and images, thank you!

I donot understand why is there a need to define Reference Point interfaces and architecture for 5G core. e.g. 3GPP has defined N11 as reference point interface between AMF and SMF. But AMF and SMF will communicate to each other via RESTful API calls defined as part of service based interface. So what does N11 exactly mean??
@3G4G5G2 жыл бұрын
The reference point architecture is to help people who have been used to this approach in previous generations to easily understand SBA. It also simplifies by ensuring people understand which messages can be exchanged between which NFs.

About the security between Core Networks and Access networks(5GC -- RAN), (1) How a secure session is created? What do security needs - integrity & authentication only? (2) Does it use IPsec or DTLS? (3) Does the security session has a time latency limit? (4) What is the capacity of the devices used to create the secure session ?

Good presentation ... slicing means here differnt type of data connectivity to the external world ? voice over 5g can be using current ims or any changes ? (guess too early question) AMF = MME ? also has a direct connection to PCRF..?
@3G4G5G4 жыл бұрын
Slicing means creating different logical flows for a single physical flow Vo5G/VoNR can use current IMS but will be an AF AMF = MME-C (see CUPS) + some new functionality

NSSF is used to select AMF but a UE first connects to AMF so is it the default AMF which is selected first.
@3G4G5G6 жыл бұрын
Either the AMF based on NSSAI or if not possible from a set of default AMFs. See 23.501 5.15.5.2.1 for more details.

In SBA how do you define a service. Can you give some examples
@3G4G5G6 жыл бұрын
How's this: "Compared to previous generations the 3GPP 5G system architecture is service based. That means wherever suitable the architecture elements are defined as network functions that offer their services via interfaces of a common framework to any network functions that are permitted to make use of these provided services."? sorry don't agree with most poeple here, it seems to be just a read-out of the slides rather than explaining each point/concept. There was no need for a video though, simple offline reading too would have had the same effect.

What is it there for the operators to support SBA
@3G4G5G6 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean. If an operator is supporting 5G, but default their vendor would be supporting SBA to be compliant to 3GPP standards.
@kashifmahmood81206 жыл бұрын
To me the real SBA is when we move away from NF based paradigm to network service based paradigm. Ofcourse that service would be realized by 1 or many NFs. So just having SBI where all the NFs talk together directly is not SBA but a step towards SBA. So my Q was why would operators move to a network service based paradigm instead of NF bases paradigm.
