Here’s the tab/notation for this rhythm: Tu wa ee Tu, wa ee Tu wa, ee Tu wa ee, Do - - - . For convenience I’m using “Tu wa ee” to represent each triplet. The count is 1 e & a, 2 e & a, 3 e & a, 4 e & a. This is 4/4 time using 16th note subdivision (note the commas separate each full beat, divided into 4 sub-beats). Thanks for the great lesson David! I learned something here today.

Essential rhythm and so happy you put this out. The recap at the end really did it justice. A better recording might be great but I hope you keep this one out there - ie, don't replace it entirely.

So one day I had this calling to play the didgeredoo i watched a bunch of videos ad it touched my soul so I eventually got one and as soon as I blew in it it sonded amazing and circular breathing came in a few days and now I can learn anything by sound im searching for more traditonal rythms and furthering my vocabulary I didt know I was a didge prodigy id love to share with you sometime my friend.

Been following you for a while now, you've probably seen some of my comments in other vids. Been practicing almost daily now for a couple of months, getting a lot better. Finally got the handle on circular breathing and can really start to grasp rythyms like these. Good tutorial, good explanations, and good playing man! Without you out there, I don't really know I'd watch. You either find total beginner stuff, or super pros just beating it. Hard to find good mid-level tutorials. Also had a didge in C+ and could never make mine sound like yours. Finally picked up a second didge this Xmas in an E and now it sounds the same lol! Makes it so much better for following along with the video in real time.

5:40 Would love to hear you play this rhythm today, as then you were still "pressing" too much (meaning you can hear the blowing instead of the tune)
@Breathwood5 жыл бұрын
Wow, no kidding! I just listened to this again, and I think it's not so much that my playing was overly breathy (maybe a little) but the recording quality is really crappy! LOL. I had the microphone up to high and was distorting! I love your idea and will consider doing a new version of this same video. Thanks for the idea!

does anyone here know the reasons behind different sounds of a didgeridoo?
@Breathwood8 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question! I can talk about how a long string will vibrate more slowly than a short string, but a tight string will vibrate faster than a loose one. But when it comes to the inside of a didgeridoo, there are many different factors. Different sized wavelengths will resonate in different sized didgeridoos. So the length and width and shape all will change the sound based on what frequencies "fit" inside that space. But there are other factors like the thickness of the material - thick will have less vibration, thin will have more (unless it is too thin - then it will have less again). A wide bell end will amplify the sound. A narrow neck will make trumpet notes easier. The inside texture will amplify or disrupt/mute certain frequencies and create the unique "voice" of each didge. Traditional eucalyptus didgeridoos sound more "rough" or gravelly due to the grooves carves by termites. A plastic didgeridoo will sound smoother and more....plasticky....due to the smoothness of the inside. Here is some more info: www.didgeridoo-physics.com/E/CADSD/method/method.htm

Im still on this everyday. It coming slowly but my speed is building. Can you tell me the exact specs on your didge?
@Breathwood8 жыл бұрын
+maskedman72 Sorry for overlooking this! You'd like length and width....? It's a slide didge, so there are two nested tubes which allow for changing the length....

When are the breathing intervals?
@Breathwood8 жыл бұрын
There is a breath on every "wa." So if the rhythm is TO wa ee to WA ee to wa EE to wa ee DO, with accents where I've capitalized the sounds (say these sounds more loudly), then breathing goes like this: TO breath ee to BREATH ee to breath EE to breath ee DO. Does that make sense?
@2mice6 жыл бұрын

+Breathwood didnt know they made tunable didges. looking to buy one since the one given to me on a trip to Australia fell from its shelf... just played it as a hobby so not to familiar with the instrument itself.

It's a 5/4 polyrhythm
@GattlingGuitarGuru9 жыл бұрын
+Lisle Kelly Nah, just syncopation around sixteenth notes in 4/4. The "triplets" he refers to are just plain sixteenth notes with every third accented, so you have four groupings of three sixteenth notes and he ends with a quarter note or two eighth notes- either way adds up to 4 beats.
