Welcome to the channel! I'm so happy you like my style of teaching. There is so much talk about the dreaded 'intermediate plateau', and for good reason. Why does it occur? When people are finally able to communicate, people stop bothering to correct them. If they don't get corrected, they think they're speaking well. Combine this with the fact that people are busy. We've all got lots of other things we would like to be doing with your precious free time. Why bother taking the time to improve when people seem to understand me? It also comes down to goals. If you goal is to be understood, then you can stop at an intermediate level. If your goal is to be impressive, or to work in an international company, or to live abroad, then simply 'being understood' might not be good enough. Top tips to push yourself past the plateau: 1) Always think of at least a couple of ways of rephrasing your idea. This will force you to use synonyms and different structures. 2) Synonyms! Look up synonyms for what you want to say. Do this when you're trying to rephrase yourself. Sites like thesaurus.com or wordhippo.com are great. 3) Linked to number 1 and 2 - collocations and idioms. What is 'correct' is not always the same as what is 'common'. At higher levels, I expect students to use more 'natural' expressions. An intermediate-level student might say 'I have many duties today, so I can't do that'. I'd say 'I've got a lot on my plate today, so I can't take on anything else.' 4) When you are practising rephrasing your idea, think about how formal, or informal you can make it. Imagine refusing to do something for your boss and then for your best friend. How would the language change? I hope my tips and videos help, Anisa 😊

What is most apparent to me are questions inspired by you? Most of all I want you to confirm that I can use plurals after a wh cleft clause? By the way, not only your experience but also your accuracy makes (s?) me feel grateful for your video.How amazing?
@TheOnlineEnglishTeacher-Anisa
@TheOnlineEnglishTeacher-Anisa 21 күн бұрын
Excellent question! Yes, you can think of the cleft as a plural....BUT, it's considered to be more informal. For example: What she bought was 5 books. (formal option - 'what' is a single pronoun) What she bought were 5 books. (informal option - connected to the plural object 'FIVE bookS' Honestly, it's a minor difference, and it's up to your personal speaking style.

Hi. Good morning. This is the correct sentence? Below: Check your baggage in at the desk.
@TheOnlineEnglishTeacher-Anisa
@TheOnlineEnglishTeacher-Anisa 15 күн бұрын
Hi @qwerty_____146 Sorry I missed your message. Yes, this is correct. It's a great example of 2 prepositions accidentally ending up next to each other. (see...I did it again: 'ending UP NEXT TO each other') So, in your sentence, you have: 1) phrasal verb: to check in baggage 2) prepositional phrase of location: at the desk Because the phrasal verb is separable, you can split it and say 'check baggage in' + prepositional phrase. Other examples with 2 prepositions: Check your baggage in with our friendly counter staff. Check your baggage in at an interactive AI kiosk. Check your baggage in by putting it on the self-scan platform. Another example that looks wrong but is actually right: Check your baggage in in time for the flight. In this case, I would put an optional comma between the two ins (Check your baggage in, in time for the flight)

As much as I love IELTS, simply because it's the exam I've been preparing students for the longest, I personally feel the Cambridge suite provides a much more accurate assessment of one's ability to understand and use the language. The CAE is a great exam, and I can definitely make some videos to help you. What part are you struggling with the most? I personally love the Use of English Part 4 where you have to paraphrase by using a keyword transformation.

I hope the translation Google provided me is accurate! People have different levels of English because they are at different points of their journey and have different goals. There are many KZbin channels to help beginning and low-intermediate level learners. When I decided to start this channel, I wanted to help my students and give them more practice. My students are usually B1 to C1 students. This is why I focus on higher vocabulary and grammar. I definitely do not recommend lower level students take a class aimed at B2-C1 level because it will be too difficult and demotivating. My best advice is to start building your vocabulary and focus on simple sentence structures. I wish you all the best on your language journey. Feel free to ask questions, Anisa
