One cool thing i have found with the video snap screensaver is that pressing start on your controller when you see a video snap it will load that game for you to start playing

the random video screensaver is not only the coolest part about having videos its my new favorite feature for retro devices! you can choose to play any game, as shanb had mentioned, simply by pressing start. you can also skip each video by pressing select

Great video, quick question. When i launch a game the screenshot of the game is full screen and looks distorted. How do imake it small screenshot like yours?

Have you done a video on changing out the background music? The tutorial through their website is very vague. The paths it shows for the original music is empty and when adding in my own music which meets the requirements, I just can't get it to play. Defaults to the built in music. Which for me is like 4 songs and one of them is beyond annoying lol.

You mean on some themes when they show a game video running on the front system view? I think there are themes that may include that as part of theme but from the many themes I tested I think most rely on video snaps you have for games. So if for eg you dont have any it would just show a static video screen, like a white noise video of nothing.

I have a question about the VRAM limit that maxes out at 1000MB (at least on my mini desktop that has Intel graphics chips). Is that limit for the VRAM used only during the Batocera GUI, or is is for everything being emulated on the device as well? I assume if I had a full sized desktop with a real graphics card (between 2GB to 6GB), THEN maybe the video ram limit would have a lot more features in the gui and maybe there wouldn't be just a 1000MB VRAM limit. I could build my next Batocera Linux emulation station out of a refurbished workstation with a graphics card, instead of my micro Lenovo Thinkcentre pc. I threw in extra memory to max it to 16GB. It has a quad-core i5 cpu and it runs pretty fast, but I think if I want more out of my GPU, I might have to settle on a larger desktop. But anyway, if you know anything about how to alter the vram cap, any help or comment back would be appreciated. Thatnk you.

Another great tutorial. But one question, in the default theme there is no game carousel option in the game list view style. But my raspberry is 3B and is no so powerfull for this theme. Is there anyother theme thac can display game logos instead of plain text but is also light for my 3B to handle?

Since I don't own one, I'm not too clear. Download different themes and try them out to pick your best one.

Hi Jeffrey! Unfortunately, I don't know. I have thousands of games and the screensaver randomly picks one of them. I don't know that one in particular since I haven't played with it. Sorry.

Maybe you know the answer to this.I have an intel/nvidia gpu laptop(i have enabled nvidia by removing the #'S from windows)my laptop freezes on games in nvidia mode which i fixed mostly by turning off vsync but FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST I CAN NOT ENABLE HDMI OUTPUT.UNDER VIDEO OUTPUT IT ONLY SAYS E-P10 OR SOMETHING! However when i boot into batocera my tv/projector(i tried both) shows the splash screen the cuts off and reappears on my laptop.I tried a mix of the hash tags on and off in the notepad in windows,yet nothing works.ITS DRIVING NUTS LOL,HOPEFULLY YOU CAN HELP OR POINT ME TO SOMETHING,I CAN NOT FIND A FORUM OR SOLUTION

I tired several versions from 33 to 30 ,tried ssh commands,tried boot.conf globalvideoput=hdmi10(also hdmi 1-15 since in settings audio came thru by setting it to custom) eventually i deleted it and just switched to retrobat thru windows thx man

@@jeffreypeters5578 oh then you went thru all the steps. My next step would have tried video out in settings and manually editing it in the config file. Last attempt might be using a USB C to hdmi Adapter. But I would go with retrobat or Launchbox to get the Nvidia support.

I have Batocera 32 and there is no Arcade Panel, Super NES, Alternate Super NES or Xbox One controller help icons,why is that? The Arcade Panel setting is the closest to the 6 Button Button Layout that would make it easy to navigate using my 8-BIT Do 6 Button Genesis/Saturn Style Controller without having to memorize which buttons do what like which button is Back and which is Select or Enter on the 6 Button Controller. It's Annoying that Batocera still does not properly support the 6 Button Controller and only supports controllers with the button layout in the Diamond arrangement, when you go to set up any controller it only shows the action buttons in the 4 button Diamond style layout so there are no Z or C buttons.

If you have a lot of games and scraped images and videos. SSD is the way to go.

When it comes to actual game performance though from what I read on the Batocera forum it doesnt matter if you are running games off a usb2,usb3,HDD or SSD. The exception though may be PS3 games though.. Which would only matter if your Batocera PC is powerful enough to emulate PS3 anyway. Using an SSD may boot your system a little quicker and boot large disc games quicker too. And ofcourse as BN mentioned, it should also make the UI more snappy too if you have say video snaps. Id love to use an SSD myself but Id need a 2TB one but those are still a little expensive for my taste. So using a regular internal HDD is still a good choice when it comes to value for storage size.

@@fonzitheman Cheers for chiming in man :-) were running on a pi 400 so no go on the ps3 anyway until maybe pi 5 or 6 hehe and the price is the big one since me and my m8 are working on the ultimate emu collection were going for every rom on every system that'll run so were looking at 8-16tb..... i'm hoping it'll work out to 8tb not 16tb though because the wd_black 8tb is a superb ext hdd which i'm running on my ps5 currently so i know it works well. --- What are you guys thoughts on total size for all roms up to ps1/dreamcast era? --- Hyperspins largest is 16tb but that goes to a newer generation and me and my m8 are working to rid ourselves of duplicates suxh as removing all french/german/japanese versions etc.

I'm sorry. I'm on Batocera Beta 33. I didn't realize there was much change until after I uploaded the video. It is safe to use the Beta 33. You can upgrade from within Batocera.

Same here. In fact, I have the exact same v32 (2021/09/20) as Batocera Nation here in his video he's using for the example, but do not have 'Theme Configuration' under Appearance in UI Settings. I have 'Gamelist View Style' instead. Want to change to US region to get Genesis, but have nowhere to select it. Is there a way to enable this somehow?

Oh I just found out while scraping manuals. Enter the system. Hold "A" on the game you wish to initiate netplay . Start net play host. I gues that'd be it. Since this is a retroarch feature , will work for the retroarch core based systems I guess. Got work tomorrow so haven't tried it.Hope it helps. But yea, retro achievements and netplay can be one of your helpful videos. 🙂

Hotkey and start at same time by default. So if you havent changed the default hotkey button try select (that would be default) and start at same time.

The developers are in charge of that. In addition, if the emulator doesn't have a Linux version, it becomes more difficult.

You can also download many ES themes on the internet and use them in Batocera, since it uses ES too. Most wont have the theme cfg option though so not as customizable since may be designed for other OS's like the Pi. (Hope this comment doesnt get deleted BN.. Cant make it much shorter lol)
