I've won a few fly casting contests, and those of you who have posted that there isn't any distance on any casts in this video miss the whole point of the video. Klaus casts around obstacles (see 1:54 and other points in the video), he's able to get quck effective FISHABLE casts out even with no backcast room, quickly change directions, etc.The point is to show what is achievable and what a person can do with a fly rod. I think this video is magic, and I've watched it again and again to learn from it. Those who are dissing this video should look past the surface and look at the substance and nuances in this casting video and learn a thing or two. Awesome video, Klaus Frimor and Marc Crapo! I hope you post more!!

I've never even seen someone do this up close and don't even fish conventional method. I can tell this guy is a wiz. that's amazing technique.

Point taken but a 10 year old boy could role that out there without the drama?

@@MrAndrewholde Maybe - just maybe - if the kid were name Steve Rajeff. Jr. You're not seeing the little nuances; the quick load in the air with a short snake roll, an effortless 90 degree change of direction cast, underhanded casts, equally effortless aerial mends...this guy is a master at line control.

This is absolutely incredible. Never seen line control like this. Slickest catch cast ive ever seen as well

I remember some years ago watching Leon Chandler from Cortland Line Company cast a line in a similar fashion. He traveled often and would do it for show, but he was also a fine fisherman and one of the nicest people you would ever meet.

Hello Klaus, I am your big fan. I know that this is a video from 2015 and the rod and line you use now is propably not the one from the video. What rod and line setup would you recommend currently to work together in such a fashion

Sr. Frimor, toda mi admiración para ustedes, la verdad es genial lo que hace con el lanzado, en ello seguro que lleva muchas horas y toma su tiempo. gracias por compartir. saludos desde España.

cool stuff. I couldn't quite work to how he did it. That is the skill on display. some people won't get it but some people never step outside the box

Some of it is "useless" line tricks as some have said but alot of it I would love to be able to do... think about it; instead of having to do 2 false casts to dry your fly a quick snake roll or whatever he calls it will do the same thing without having to backcast into the bank and I would love to be able to curve a cast around a log or root ball like he was doing around the camera tripod.
