Advanced Ganondorf Movement Guide: Cowlanding

A thing not mentioned about this is the timing of the "wavedash" after the short hop ac bair. It is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the typical Ganon wavedash imput (6f jumpsquat); it is much faster. The idea is to airdodge as soon as possible after the double jump. That is what most find hard about this tech. The easy variant for slower paced matches is done with full hop bair/upair: you can waveland as you're falling down, no dj required. Also you can mix them up with a second bair or upair, a dj bair/upair for triple aerials, etc. You can also full hop bair/upair into dj bair/upair and waveland afterwards. But it doesn't cover you with a hitbox on the way down unless you go for the triple aerial. I wonder if you can bair half way thru Ganon coming down from a full hop then cowland it. Can be a decent mixup as well.

This actually makes a lot of sense, good catch. I've mained fox for about 10 years before I picked up ganon, and cowlanding is much easier than ganons normal wavedash for me so I thought nothing of it. Not much of a frame data guy, so I'd say it's probably similar to 3f jump squat wavedashes?

@@Shavark Probably yeah, maybe even faster since double jumps (if I remember correctly) come out quicker than a 3f jumpsquat would allow. I guess it would depend on how "crisp" the cowland is: a "triangle jump" version might be achieved by performing the motion of the "wavedash" like, say, a 4f jumpsquat character would (I don't know for certain, never tested it). While the "more crisp" cowlands might be akin to a 3f jumpsquat or even lower.

I actually use Y and A + control stick to do my instant aerials. I used to do that with Sheik when I mained her, and that was hard considering her 3-frame jumpsquat. With Ganon having double that, it's much easier for me to do.

Im not even close to the level of playing Smash i would ever try even to understand what a wavedash even is but for some reason this was stilll a cool video
