I remember almost a year ago when I came and watched this, I said to myself. "I'm never going to be able to learn all of these techniques, and apply them to gameplay" I remember now, that still, even after a year learnning everything these vids could offer was still only the beginning. You need experience, perseverance, and all over, believe in yourself. If you're just getting into Melee, and you think this is hard, don't give up, learn the game, it's well worth it.

hahaha. i remember the first time i watched this, about 3 years ago, i was amazed. This video made me the beast that i am today. And to those who cant do this techquines, don't worry i had a hard time too, all it takes is practice and the will power to actually sit there or hours mastering it. Then you play ppl better than you. About 1 year later, or less, this stuff is gunna be second nature to you. Good luck!

Loved this, it helps so much! Thank you for your hard work on this series. Also, I love your theory on how this implements into your playstyle, it is very true indeed. You learn how to wavedash, and you're like "hey guys, check this out!" to your friends, and they ask "What's the point of that?" and you start to ask the same question. This video answers every question like that.

This is truly superb - explaining how to do the moves is one thing, showing how to LEARN is quite another. I wish Melee had come out when I was around 15 and I had oodles of time to play - as it is, that's when the original came out and the internet wasn't really the kind of information highway that it is now!

Heh, watching these backassward techniques in action is kinda neat, and I appreciate the intro, saying that the game was only intended to be played simply. Keeps far from sounding elitist about how one plays Melee. Seeing C. Falcon wavelanding reminds me of backdash+jumping in some Castlevanias (Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesing, in my experience), where the character will slide backwards then jump up diagonally, pretty much over the spot they were standing on. Not sure of use, but's neat

just reminding you short hopping is one of the most essential moves in the game. Fox is somewhat easy to consistently shorthop with after you master it. Fox is probably top tier with his crazy random attacks with the difficulty to fully master him to his max potential.
@WhollyMax12 жыл бұрын
Each aerial has a set number of frame (1/60th of a second), after that set number, you return to your normal falling animation. If you hit "L" during the normal falling animation, you simply air dodge, but if you hit "L" during an aerial animation, you L-cancel if you're near the ground. I hope you understood
@Jonassoe14 жыл бұрын
It's not like they test you to see if you can do it :P The first time Hungrybox won a tourney, he didn't know how to l-cancel. He mains Jigglypuff though, but it still shows that you don't NEED to know these techniques. It's just a good idea.
