While you explained the component well, it shows also a good example for the bad sites of Laravel. With Laravel there are many ways to do things "magically" or hidden from the developer who wants to understand the implemantation by reading the code. Looking just at the controller, it is incomprehensible where $timezone comes from. Filling values into the container somewhere and read from it in an other file is bad style. It coerces every college to know all ways that a framework offers. Especially supervisors can not know every fancy trick of all frameworks. Therefore, the possibilities for "magic" should only be used if that provides a BIG advantage, NOT just because it's possible. In your example it would be better to simply set the attribute value in the controller. One line, simple to understand. The most important thing about containers is that while they are good for a few situations they should be used as little as possible. So, please do not only teach how to use components of a framework but also when to use them.
