I had my first baby in july, 41 yrs. I’m not saying anyone should wait that long, it’s really to gamble and it’s stressful to try to concieve at that age. But I watched ALL of these videos when I was trying to get pregnant, and found it really encouraging to read successful stories. We tried for 7 months, and got pregnant naturally. I have the most beautiful 5,5 month old baby girl sleeping in my arms as I type this. I could do it, and many with me can. Wishing you all good luck. 💗

I watched all your videos while I was TTC, (I started at 41) and got as much fertility testing done as possible. My baby girl has also thankfully passed all tests & screenings throughout this pregnancy so far. I deeply appreciate all the information you've provided that I relied on while on this journey, now just hoping and praying to make it to the finish line with a healthy baby girl in 2 weeks! ❤

good luck but anyway 43 is the limit, sometimes you hear a woman of 45-46 is pregnant, this is stupid, it is playing with nature, the risk of sick child is very big. And normally the chances at 45 are about 1 % to get pregnant per month. 45 is too old for everyone.

Love your videos, Dr. Natalie, they're so informative and upbeat. Your energy is so positive that I find your videos really uplifting to watch. There are other doctors who make videos on this topic that I cannot watch because they're so negative and condescending. I'm 41 and just been trying to conceive for 2 months, and would love it if you could make a video about cervical mucus and how it changes through one's cycle. I'm finding now that I'm paying attention that my cervical mucus is different at different times in my cycle. Thanks again 😊

I submitted this question to your email awhile back but it seems to also be applicable to this video. You listed the reasons why someone would take low-dose aspirin, and I don’t think you mentioned individuals who have been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. I would love if you developed a video on APS, as it affects 1 in 5 women with recurrent pregnancy loss. I’ve tried searching for information on the efficacy of treatment (low-dose aspirin + heparin injections) but the few videos I’ve found are medical conference recordings that are full of so much medical jargon it was impossible to get through. I realize this topic is probably more specialized to high-risk pregnancy doctors, but I love your videos and the way you explain complex topics to your audience. Thank you!
@NatalieCrawfordMD10 ай бұрын
yes absolutely APS should start low dose aspirin when trying to conceive and then add lovenox with positive pregnancy test (or embryo transfer if doing IVF) - should be standard of care.

I had two easy pregnancies and uneventful deliveries at 30 and 31. Now about to turn 37 and considering another but it's scary. I don't feel that much older but unsure I'm wanting to compromise my "track record." Having a vaginal delivery, no induction, was really important to me and I'm afraid that a delivery at 37 would mean induction and possibly increase chance of c-section.
@SJ-ru4ej4 ай бұрын
As far as I'm aware - Age alone isn't a reason to induce as long as you aren't having other issues but don't just take some random internet stranger's word for it lol. I have a similar track record to you and don't want to go through that either. A friend of mine just had a baby at 43 at home, went in to labor naturally the day before her due date.

It's so interesting that advanced paternal age is not strongly associated with increased chromosomal abnormalities, but I suppose that's because the sperm are newly generated whereas eggs are older. Are there any significant recommendations for TTC with advanced paternal age specifically (either alone or with advanced maternal age)?
@flavialm110 ай бұрын
Man over 40 have the same association as woman over 35, the sperm is "newly generated" but the "factory" gets old. Just because someone produce sperm doesn't mean is a quality one, the thing is society doesn't view man over 40 as old, as they do woman. Plus drinking, smoking and obesity play a big role. My uncle and his wife lost 5 babies before finally having a boy, he is autistic, his wife was 28 and he was 44. Like when is comes to infertility, is a 50 /50 thing between man and woman, but it always falls under the woman's fault for everyone around.
@video123film10 ай бұрын
@@flavialm1 From what I looked up, advanced paternal age is not associated with increased rates of abnormal chromosome numbers (although on second look, there is some increased risk of trisomy 21, but not 13 and 18 and xyy for example). But I see it is associated with other abnormalities and mutations.
@NatalieCrawfordMD10 ай бұрын
actually APA is associated with an increase in imprinting disorders, new autosomal dominant disease mutations, and increase in behavioral disorders (autism spectrum) - however, typically at an older age like 50+

Thanks Natalie - so much good info here again! I however really dont see the benefit of measuring someones AMH - all it does it mess with a patients mental state and I really feel like it doesn't help anyone knowing this info, most importantly the patient. If in western medicine, it cannot be changed, really why put that 'dreaded number' in a woman TTC's head xxxx But I do work with that side of fertility so maybe its just me :/

I’m 39 and have never tried to get pregnant. My husband had a vasectomy in his first marriage and we are considering a reversal, before him I was always on birth control. Now I’ve been off it 12 years. I really have no idea about my own fertility since before him I was exceptionally careful with my BC. We’ve done tons of research about reversals and have a good idea about the odds for the success of that. I read some specialist like to see the female partner’s tests before agreeing to do a reversal, but I’m not sure what testing I should seek out. Most of the information I find talks about infertility testing, but I don’t meet that criteria since I’ve never TTC. Is there any specific testing I could start with to assess our situation?
@NatalieCrawfordMD10 ай бұрын
please get a fertility evaluation before doing a reversal even though you haven't TTC. so many people don't have the data they need to make this decision! lots of love.
@melissafriedrichs471610 ай бұрын
Another alternative to the reversal is a Testicular sperm extraction, my husband just had that done because a reversal was not successful. Much less invasive and a sure thing almost. But the downside is that it's only enough sperm to use for IVF. So I totally agree, get you tested first.

Can you comment on the possible link between autism and aspirin use in pregnancy? I’m 36 and have a BMI in the overweight category (working on it!), plus a history of mild preeclampsia at the end of my 1st pregnancy. My baby was diagnosed with autism at 19 months. So on one hand, I’m hearing that baby aspirin is recommended for me if I get pregnant again, but on the other hand I’m very afraid to take it. Oh, and I also had a chemical pregnancy loss before my first child, and just had a 2nd miscarriage at 7 weeks, one week ago. God help me with this anxiety 😢

Have you done a video about perimenopause? I have so much trouble finding good information about this. I am not trying to get pregnant. I have given birth to 4 children in my thirties, always got pregnant right away. After my fourth child I had two back to back miscarriages. I have hot flashes, mood swings, increased body odor, and my normally regular cycle is now drastically shortened and irregular. I feel like I was blindsided with perimenopausal, like I went from very fertile and then my fertility fell of a cliff! It’s been shocking and I am having trouble finding good information about perimenopausal symptoms and why they happen and what your body is doing during this transition period.

Hi Doctor , My wife(29 yrs) is 10 weeks 4 days pregnant and her TSH is 7.29, T4 : 0.86 ng/dl. Blood Group B-, BP-120/70, B.W - 59 Kg. Hemoglobin : 9.80 gm/dl. ICT - negative. This is our first pregnancy, and we are worried about her elevated TSH levels. She was prescribed Thyroxine 25 mcg/day. Is this the right dosage? (cause we googled 2 mcg/kg/per is avg requirement), As we mentioned it is our first pregnancy we are really worried, So we would be really appreciate more insight on this issue.

Things we can look out for and bring up to our Drs. Especially for woman of color that tend to have worse outcomes because of the disparity between treatment at hospitals that leads to putting the mother and baby in danger.

Hello Natalie, thanks so much for all that you share! I’m hoping you can help myself and others in regard to hormones used during IVF…. Do you prescribe bio identical hormones (prometrium and estradiol for example ) to your ladies in IVF or do you use synthetic hormones (provera and estrofem for example) It seems Bio identical ones are safer and more effective while avoiding MPA’s . I would have assumed almost like a generic medicine - it would be the same and not an issue to ask for bio synthetic ones but my IVF dr is unfamiliar with them and says he doesn’t have stats in their efficacy and interaction with the fertility medication used in my IVF. What do you think? I am confused by this and a bit worried Thank you so much! Jodi
