We just learned the sad news that Coach Michael was diagnosed with cancer in May, 2022, just one month after our camp. He has been fighting hard against since but it is only getting so much harder as the cancer has unfortunately advanced into stage 4. We pray with our whole hearts: May God bring another Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Coach Michael!

Nope! Not even close! You want your skis firmly planted on the snow at all times to allow the construction of the skis to make the turns as they slide so you don't have to jump around like Fred Flintstone forcing his ski to change direction.

it's close, the main idea for hop turns is for tip drive which is essential for when youre skiing fast in the bumps

@@waddles6470 What mogul skiing Looks Like and what it is are two different things. Hopping and twisting teach the wrong things. You should strive to keep constant weight on your feet no matter where you are in the bumps. For grip and smoothness.

Thanks for the great comments, and that’s exactly what the coaches taught in the camp too. The hop turn was taught as a drill exercise only, not as a way to ski the bumps elegantly. :) thank you again and happy mogul skiing!

these drills on easy baby hills are to learn how to move your feet .. if you can't move your feet in moguls, forget about it. I tell everyone who asks me how to ski moguls to go to the baby hill and do drills like this and .. they look at me like i'm an idiot .... i spent months of my life over the years doing these drillls .. only way to learn how to do moguls ... if you can't turn like you do on moguls on the baby hill, you may as well forget about it.

@@tinyskier6250 You learn to ski moguls by first learning how to ski technically correct. If you don't then you can forget anything on skis. Then you build up confidence on steep slopes making those turns. Then you find a line on an easy mogul area, and you ski down it making technically correct turns with aggression. You soak up your knees as you approach a bump and then extend your legs down between them. If you want to jump around doing all the work, that's up to you. I was a world class mogul skier since the early 70's and as smooth as flowing Mercury.
