now that's a hefty complement. Your very welcome. This one is is from a series on the 9 killer rudiments that I usually charge for but wanted to throw this one up on KZbin. My latest one is called "6 stroke rolls" dealing all with 16th note triplets and is available for purchase on the shop page of the website. I'm most proud of that one as probably use 6 stroke rolls as my "go to" in most solo's and fills. Thanks again for the good words!

Hey thanks so much for this. I'm a brass player who has also been playing drum set/some percussion for a while. I have a strong feel for the pulse and groove, but fills and applying rudiments to the drum set have always eluded me. I always look at drummers wondering how they are getting around the kit the way that they do, and the rudiments seem to be the key. I also like that you mention the Moeller technique within this lesson - super cool the way that you connect things. Solid teaching, I'll check out more of your videos.

Is there a specific reason why you have your toms set up like this? I was thinking about it last night, what came to mind was that as the toms are almost stacked vertically in an offset way, this would help reduce the distance you would need to cover around the kit if they were next to each other in the conventional or normal way if you will... Curious to try this!

Drum professor, I'm curios as to how the paradiddle diddle differs from the six stroke roll, other than the order of sticking? (LrrllR). Thank you, -Dylon
@CamerOneiric8 жыл бұрын
Dylan Nadon double paradiddle is Rlrrll Lrllrr Six stroke roll is phrased differently and the sticking is Rllrrl Lrrllr
@sambachhuber94198 жыл бұрын
Dylan Nadon For a paradiddle diddle all of the strokes are the same note values so like if you were to count sixtuplets of a quarter note. Six stroke roll is as if you were counting sixteenth notes for a quarter note with the diddles on e + and. So if you count eight times for a quarter note and the () mean a rest, you would count out 1 (2) 3 4 5 6 7 (8) if you write six stroke rolls as R ll rr L. I hope this helped out and sorry for the long explanation. Have fun drumming : )

Scott, brilliant tutorial. I dig your approach and of course your sense of humor you bring to it (drumming can get too serious here on YT). An insightful look at how you teach. This rudiment is one of my favorite and I use it to play the jazz ride pattern by starting it on the 2 & 4 w/the right hand on the ride & left on snare, which then makes it simpler in playing fills on the rest of the kit while keeping the pattern intact & then going back to the ride pattern - kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5uyq2iqj9aGpLc Thanks for sharing.

Also the sticking for that was very cool your RLRRLL ..RLRRLL Seems to make doing sixes more fast than RLLRRL, RLLRRL. I have been doin this stick RLLRRL, RLLRRL for so many years on the set. But it comes from marching band snqre thats why.
@Scottjazz557 жыл бұрын
Good comment/points on the sticking Carl. One difference is that this way one is leading with their right hand in a way that's very helpful for leading down the toms on the set. Now if I may be so bold as to give a "shameless plug" I do have an advanced video on the website that goes way beyond this level as well as customized versions of the six stroke rolls that can change stickings depending on which cymbals, toms, or side of the drum set one prefers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/boWyamttlJd5apY Anyway....thanks again for that informed comment.
